Hi guys! First post here but love the site!
I'm looking into getting a new G35x and because I'm self-employed, probably going with a lease so I can write off the payments. Here is what my local dealership told me:
'08 G35x
Platinum Graphite
Premium Package
NAV Package
Wood Trim
39 mo lease with 12k miles a year
MF of .00237
Residual of 57% ($22,757.25 - this means that they are quoted me list of $39,925??)
$4,000 down + 1st payment
Payments of $498 + tax
Seems WAY to high compared to what I've been reading on this board. Any advice or other dealers I should look into, please let me know. For a great deal I'll just use the current 3.9% promotion and buy the car and pay $500 to have someone ship the car to me.
Thanks in advance guys!

I think the residual is based off the MSRP, not the negotiated purchase price (someone correct me if I'm wrong). If that's the case, you need to find out what the purchase price (not MSRP, although maybe what they're quoting you is, in fact, MSRP) to really determine if this is a good deal. Good rule of thumb that I stick with is to negotiate the price of the car first, then let the dealer know whether I'm leaseing or financing. It becomes much easier to do the math then (as opposed to talking monthly payments). Also, $4000 seems like a lot of money to put down for a lease.
EDIT
Check out this thread for info on how to calculate your lease payment.

You should always negotiate the price before you tell the dealer whether you want to pay cash, finance, or lease. Right now, it doesn['t make much sense to lease this car with the financing that's available. If you can qualify for the 3.9% at 60 months I would recommend that. Also, $4000 is quite a bit to put down on a lease.

for the same car, different colour, I am paying 36,600 OTD, no taxes for me coz I am out of state. So, your price should AT MOST be that much. I paid cash, if you finance, you should be able to buy at or below MSRP because they make money off your finance, dunt know about lease but they probably make more on that too.
Ok so here's the latest...
$38k is the lowest they said they can go.
Anyone have some contact info for a good dealership I can work with over the phone/internet?
Thanks for all the help and cannot wait to get my very own G!

I just bought from NY and I got EXACT same in Obsidian, prem, nav, wood, splashguards, cargonet, wheel locks. Depends where you are it may not come with splash guards installed. I got mine $36,600. If yours come with splash n cargo, invoice should be about $150 less than what I paid.. so $38K if ur talking before taxes is just nuts...
I advise you to use the infiniti website and locate dealers in your area, google check if they have websites. Then you email them all and YOU tell them what you want to pay. Not the other way around. Always use the words, out the door or on the road, b4 taxes. I also say all fees inclusive no extras. I hate playing stupid games with these people. Its yes or no, if not bye bye.
And dunt even bother going down to the show room until you have received a fax of the purchase order listing everything..mileage...vin, all options and final price... then you can go down. these leeches think old school car salesman techniques still work.

the quote you got is pretty high. Check out edmunds.com. Lots of good information.
These are the deals other people are getting with their lease.

Thanks Xover22 for that link!
Unfortunately we only have one Infiniti dealership within a 2.5 HOUR drive radius, so they are they only ones in town (I'm located in Nebraska). I was hoping to get the names of some other dealers in the midwest and give them a shot. Anyone have a contact or dealership I should check out?
Thanks!
