4600 Mile Trip & Gas Mileage

We took a 4600+ mile trip over eleven days from Minnesota to Tucson and back with several excursions between Tucson and Phoenix. The car operated flawlessly and was very comfortable for my wife and I. Except for the excursions to Phoenix, we averaged 75 MPH over the entire trip including daily pit stops. This was accomplished by keeping the speed anywhere between 4 and 9 MPH over the posted limit. I had Blizzaks mounted on 17 inch rims for the trip since we live in snow country. The car was loaded down with luggage, golf clubs and Christmas gifts.

With all that, we averaged 22.72 mpg.

PS: with the 18 inch summer tires, I have gotten 25-26 mpg during the summer.

theres probably a reasonable explanation for this. but im going to go ahead be immature.

if you are one who counts the miles to the gallon, get rid of the G.lol. its sucks. i dont know how u got 25-26 on sport tires. but yea, that was probably the problem higher psi should theoretically get better mpg too. and snow tires have a lot of thread and i think take more effort to move across the ground.

Wow, that is a long trip. I can't wait to go a long distance in my car. I am getting 19.2 MPG, and that is with a lot of stop and go traffic... and I drive like an idiot.

awesome... nice to know other people drive their G's across the country.

i take an 800 mile hike to Texas every other month plus driving around town (avg. about 2k every trip)... my G performs well every time.. I get between 410 and 440 miles per tank depening on driving conditions.

EDIT: 07 sedan section... i have a coupe!!!

I am not one to always count miles to the gallon - this was done more out of curiosity for an extended trip. When you charge your gas, the receipts list the gallons filled. Also, since I was interested in the total mileage put on the car during the trip, it was very easy to add up the gallons and divide into the total mileage once we got home. The 25-26 mpg on sport tires was accomplished with all highway miles when the car was relatively new (~3000 miles) and yes, the Blizzaks are a stickier tire. There is definitely a difference between summer and winter gas.

Hey PrairieG35 would you mind posting some pictures of your car? I would like to see some interiror shots. I am looking to purchase an 08 with the same colour combo that you have but have not seen any PG cars with stone interior pictures.

Honda Accord
I once did a 1200+ mile trip from California(Orange County) to Arizon(Pheonix, Flagstaff, Page) to Nevada(Las Vegas), and finally back to Orange County. My car did avg of 23mpg which wasn't too bad.... considering I'm already doing less than 15mpg in the local where I live.

This Christmas tho', I did the same trip starting from Page, Arizona ...through Las Vegas... and to Orange County in a rental (07 Honda Accord LX sedan), and the Accord did the 550-mile trip with avg of around 30mpg.... xD

Oh well, still, I love my G and will not trade it for anything else.

First let me say hello to everyone I am new to the forum and just purchased my used 07 g35 sedan in Dec 07. I will say this is one sweet azz car. I owned a 05 maxima SE before this and this car owns a max anyday. Anyway I wanted to say I took a trip from Tucson AZ to Dayton OH thru augusta GA and back for a total of over 5000 (I know lot of miles for a car period) and I averaged about 22.8 miles a gal.
