Had 07-045 ECU update applied to my car today

I had gotten use to the touchy throttle but my wife and daughter both drive my G35 from time to time and had trouble with it so I decided to have the ECU update applied. Seems smoother without losing any power or overall response but I need to drive more to really know for sure.

BTW, when I first told my dealer about the touchy throttle the service writer said there was no fix. I showed them the comment in the Jan. 08 Motor Trend that they had an Infiniti Tech apply a fix that MT said helped. The service writer called the Infiniti tech line but still no fix (Thanks to this site I knew there was a fix but it was not being advertised as a specific fix for the touchy throttle.) I called Infiniti customer service and complained to the person on the phone that if Motor Trend can get a fix why can't I? They said they would call the dealership and talk to the service manager. About 20 minutes later the service manager called me and said although there was no fix for the touchy throttle they could apply the latest ECU update to see if that helped. That is of course what I wanted so I told him to go for it. I probably could have just made up a story about having an issue with the cruise control and avoided this minor hassle but live and learn.

Got the ECM updated and made a huge difference in acceleration. Much smoother....

All I had to do is tell my dealer the Service Bulletin about Cold Engine Start Issues and referenced ITB07-045 and it was covered under warranty

I went in for the second time today to get that issue fixed, the cruise control/touchy throttle, and this time instead of just telling me no they said ok and then after it was all over I find out half way home that they actually did nothing. It is like pulling teeth to get my dealer to fix the issue. I will have to bring the tsb in and shove it in their face I guess.

Question for you all. Have you heard of the 08 G35 having this problem? Or was this fixed for the O8s?

I have to go back to get it done. They were having problems with their hand held programmer. I didn't bitch about it because I was playing dumb about the cruise control. I wish they would just make it available without having to lie about it or escalate up the chain.

I'm sick of having to apologize to passengers because the car jerks so much.

Does anyone else with 045 notice that it hold gears longer during warm up? I believe this is how they got rid of my cold start RPM fluctuation issue.

After having the car for a few days with this change it's all good.... Smoother takeoffs with no loss in power. I'd say if you are contemplating having this done - do it!

treacherous, I checked for gear holding this morning but didn't really notice a difference cold vs warmed up.

Thanks Jim123,

I have a client at my dealership who has the exact same issue...wife and all.
I gave the info you provided to my service manager and we'll be trying it out on a service loaner first to confirm that it works, and then getting in touch with my customer to give him the good news.

Nice work. Infiniti of Columbus
