Locked myself out of the car last night.

So I go to the store, push the lock button before closing the door and no beep noise. All this time I thought I had the key in the pocket. When I arrive at my car, I noticed I didn't have it and couldn't get the door to open. I left my keys in the cup holder. I had to call someone to bring the extras.

WHAT THE HELL.

He has the intelligent key.... thats why he is saying "what the hell". I am thinking that the key was not registering for a few minutes etc and thus assumed the key was not in the car and let you lock it. But when it did start picking it up it did not unlock the doors... Kind of stupid if you ask me.

The only thing I can think of that might have caused it to malfunction was the key was touching some other keys in the cup holder. But still, kind of weird. I just tested it by locking the doors and it works how it suppose to.

Same thing happened to us a few months ago in my wifes FX. We pulled into her parents driveway got out - without locking the door - and went inside. Came out, car was locked, key still in the console. Not touching a phone or other keys - nothing. Had to call Infiniti Roadside Service (phonemenal service by the way) guy came the next day and popped the door open and the keys worked just fine. No idea what happened.

Its possible to lock the key in the car if you use the inside door lock button. That one does not check where the IKey is.

how is this possible...i work out after school every day and i left my key in my jeans while wearing my sweatpants and my trunk wouldn't close because the key was in my jeans inside the trunk. wouldn't this be the case if you left it inside the car? i thought it "knew"

i always use the black button on the outside of the door...it will not let you lock your keys in the car.

yeah, I never use doorlock from inside. I use it from outside and in that case it knows if you have the key inside or not. I think it is normal if you lock the door from inside and close the door should not open.

I always drop my window a couple inches whenever I leave the car running...just in case.
