Gas Performance

Lately I have been watching my gas, for what reason i don't know.
I realized that my car performs best when I use 93 from shell. I get about 275 miles from a full tank and to me performs better, and with any other gas I usually range from 230 to 265. I drive about 60% highway and 40% city. I would say my top 3 gases are shell, sunoco and mobil. Have you guys noticed any difference in gases?

shell v-power works the best for me, also our car comes with a 20 gal. tank but the digital range will only cover 17 gal. so we have a 3 gal reserve.

when i had to stretch it i got 400 once, 19 gal fill up

I think its more due to the condition of the gas tank than anything else when you're strictly comparing to top branded gas. I dont think stations in US are as bad as other places where they deliberately mix water to make a penny more. Your driving mood may have been the biggest contributor too :P For me, all the gas are very comparable.

Gasoline does matter

My regular gas station started selling gasoline with 10% alcohol about two months ago. I've noticed a drop of 3 mpg +/- in both my G35 and my pickup. It ticks me off that they dilute the gasoline with alcohol without a corresponding decrease in cost. What really ticks me off is the US congress mandating this adulteration of the gasoline supply. Soon there won't be a choice to buy real gasoline. BP/Amoco isn't adding alcohol to their gas in this area yet, I'll be buying my gasoline from them now.

Oh I actually thought it was standard for all gasoline to come with +/- 10% alcohol mixed in. What gasoline brands DO NOT mix with alcohol?

+1. I use sams, costco and albertsons 93 and consistently get between 19.8 and 21MPG. I strecthed to 380 miles on one tank and had almost 2 gallons left

Am I doing something wrong? I average 280-300 MPG and you guys are getting close to 400? I've got an 07 journey and do mostly city(I guess) driving. Is the variance that great between city/hwy driving?

In city driving, averaging 280-300 seems right. When I do city driving, I get 300 per tank, but when I do highway driving, I get 400 miles per tank before the gas light comes on.

You wouldn't think that it makes much of a difference between city and highway, but I think it really does.

Talking Check out this link....

http://www.toptiergas.com/

I consistently use Shell 93 octane and always get at least 400 miles on a full tank.
I live in SW Florida, Naples/Ft. Myers area and drive about 25% City, 75% Hwy.
I have a Shell Mastercard that pays back 5% on all Shell gasoline purchases.
My last car was an '01 Acura CL Type S and I always used Shell 93.
That car had 240,000 miles before I traded it in for my G.
I know that the gasoline may have very little to do with a car's longevity.
But I guess I'm partial now to Shell.....
If it never caused me problems before.....better stay with the same formula.

I dont know what to tell you. I drive roughly 65-70% hwy and the other city. I have babied the car but not that much. Maybe the hwy does make that much of a difference

The most I've squeezed out of a tank of gas is 749 KMs (465 miles). It was 100% highway driving and cruise was on most of the time. I only use Shell V-Power 91. My average is about 600 KMs (375 miles) though.

Giggling

As the fuel price for my fill-up passes $10, $20, $30, $40 and even $50, you'd think I would be freaking out at the gas mileage or the fuel burn rate or whatever. I'm not. I'm sitting there giggling, thinking about the last 300+ miles and all the fun I had in the car. By the time the pump clicks off, I'm saying "Best fifty bucks I ever spent!" And I do this every fill-up.

Thanks, Infiniti. I wasn't a car person before I bought your product but I count the hours I spend in her as the best hours of my day.
