A question about warranty...and lowering

Hey guys,

Every car I had previous to the Gx were lowered. What can I say, I love to slam!

Here's my predicament...every car I had previous were older, off warranty cars and the G is new (08). It's my first AWD car, my first Nissan, and I don't know what to expect in terms of future problems.

Will changing the springs on my brand new G void my warranty? I understand things like shocks, linkages, tierods, etc will be voided, but I'm concerned with the AWD system. Let's say a sensor goes, or my transfer case, or clutch pack. Can they blame that on my lowering springs and tell me to F off?

It's the only thing holding me back now for a drop (going to do an eibach prokit).

Any insight would help.

Thanks guys!

I figured as much too, voiding the suspension warranty.

anyone know usernames of people with 07-08 Gx's that are lowered? I can try PM'ing them.

Thanks

Suspension work will void the suspension warranty.

Spring rates might be wrong, etc etc etc.

changing out the factory springs is bringing the car out of factory spec, voiding that part of the warranty, similar to reflashing your ECU brings the engine out of factory spec, voiding the warranty on your powertrain.

Technically, Infiniti could void warranties for intakes and exhausts, but they're nice about it

BMW on the other hand.... if anyone but a dealer even touches your car, your warranty is done. They even put it on their contracts.

^^^
Makes sense, the dealer would have to prove that my springs broke the AWD (man I hope I dont get into that one with them).

^^
When I heard BMW charged somewhere in the $250 range for an oil change on my buddy's M3, I knew exactly where they could shove that overpriced piece of junk ($120,000) for an M3, what kind of crack is that? They should fix your car for free regardless of warranty so maybe you might be so stupid again as to buy another one. (I'm 100% NOT A BMW fan)

^
no probs, i'll let you guys know when i drop.
eibach is my tried, tested, and true brand for springs (on my other cars).
As for you in CT, I hear for americans Tirerack.com is a pretty good price for eibachs. I'm not 100% on this but it's what I heard.

Not true about voiding the warranty...

There are far too many people that throw around the phrase "voids warranty" when it does not apply. I have worked this issue from the dealer, customer, legal and service perspective. I am not going to say you will never have a problem, but one thing is clear; the law is on your side. If you make modifications to a car and that car has a problem or malfunction that the DEALER can link directly to the modification they will not be liable to repair it under warranty. I have been an expert witness in court and dealt with my own Mag Moss issues in court (most recently with Audi of America). This is not license to do any you want without recourse. You should always talk with your dealer, understand what could result rom your modifications, and determine your level of commitment. Good luck.

All in all, it depends on the dealer, so i suggest you find a mod friendly dealership!

I guess that would be the safest bet, talking to the dealer. That's my next course of action. Ultimately, I was just wondering if anyone had a situation like this, with any car, where lowering was a problem in respect to warranty.

Thanks for the inputs guys

If the off chance that a suspension component did break and you think the dealer will give you grief ... just throw the stock springs back on.

I can vouch for the Eibachs.
Here is a good "Eibach" info thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...138579&page=11
** Note post #174** If you get the rear camber kit ~$180, it comes with the bolts for the rear toe adjustment. You don't need to buy both kits.
I got my pro kit and my rear camber & toe kit from Tirerack (no complaints here).
