Axle Broke on the g35

I have a 2007 Infiniti G35 Sprot 6mt with 20,000 miles. I was leaving school and i got up to 4500 rpm in first gear and i heard a big boom noise like something broke. So i stepped on the clutch and put it in neutral then put it in 2nd. I left off the clutch and stepped on the gas pedal and the car didn't move. So i got out and pushed the car into the corner of the road. I turned off and waited for a little bit. Started it back up and put into first and left off the clutch and i heard crunching noise from the back left wheel. I got the car towed and the Infiniti dealer said it was the left axle. I was just wondering if this ever happen to anyone else. This is really weird. I only have an intake exhaust and high flow cats.

4500rpm is hard? Sorry, but I'd ask the guy if there's any other "special" instructions on driving a $35-40k sports luxury car thats "driven to perform." or whatever their ads say.

glad its being taken care under warranty

Yeh, your not kidding. If they really think that you did drive it "Too Hard" that would imply it's your fault...so then why would they fix it under warranty? What a stupid thing for them to imply. If they don't want us to rev 4500rpm then don't make the redline 7500rpm.

I'm sorry, but 4500 in first does sound kind of high...

Not that we haven't all gone there... I regularly go higher than that at the light, but still.

4500 is high ? Then sh*t, when I shift at 7100, that must be astronomical

My automatic shifts higher than 4,500!!!

In fact, I once popped the car into neutral by mistake. The car takes so long to shift that I thought I was in M mode and forgot to shift.
If I'm in drive mode, I have to constantly remind myself to avoid the same mistake.

the axle may not have failed as a direct result of the 4,500 in 1st... damage could have been done to it by prior driving habits.

Taking in a modified 'sport' car with an issue like this could go either way w/ the warranty coverage. It sounds like he did catch a hard time, but they covered it anyways.
