Actually, after reading the specs of the 09 Maxima, it has more to offer than the G, other than HP & torque of course. After seeing this, the G will definitely have to be changed for 09 otherwise it would be tough justifying the price differential between the G and the loaded Maxima.

I will get the 2010 model, after the 09 glitches have been fixed.

I figured there was change coming last fall when I was researching my car. There was already a G37 coupe and the marketing materials all said, "G Sedan", not G35 Sedan. So I figured the 09s would be G37s. I bought anyway. The only real regret I will have is the 7-speed transmission, assuming it comes here. But a G35 Sedan at invoice at a great apr will made me happy to make the commitment now. Most of my driving is city driving which I suspect will not change the mpg much, so saving a few dollars a year on the hwy drives I do wasn't worth the wait, cost, or apr increase.

Who knows, but they will not likely discount them as much when they first come out, so considering an 08 can be had for $1K under invoice today and with 2.9% I doubt we'll see that agressive pricing on a G37 unless economy is in toilet and/or gas is $4+ a gallon! Both of which could be very possible.

Unfortunately there is no news out of the NY auto show yet about the G37 sedan...

I'm thinking it is not in the cards for 2009.

That annoys me greatly. To the point where it really turns me off on replacing my 2005 G35x with another Infiniti. It just makes no sense to me to have a G35 for the NA market, and a G37 for the European.

While the seven speed auto wouldn't have had a massive impact on fuel efficiency, considering the price of gas in the US... and their sales are down (so is everyone though I imagine)... The principle of just "ignoring" for another year... Makes me think very carefully about spending substantially more on an A5 (I know, different car) or just a little more for an IS250 AWD.

I've been a big supporter of Infiniti - the value of this car is amazing. But to ignore it with the competition improving, and mediocre efficiency in the midst of skyrocketing fuel prices... Well as I said, the principle of it will really frustrate me.

My friend, there is absolutely nothing wrong the 08 G35X, there is absolutely nothing out there that beats this car in terms of bang for the buck. Its truly an underrated car and I think this is because the car it replaced, the 06 versions were not that great, sure there had power but were lacking in refinement and luxury. I have the 08, replaced my IS250AWD with the G, I am loving every minute I spend in my G. Now I will tell you were you are right, the G's fuel economy is not great, its about 19mpg. For me, this is not an issue, I was well aware of this fact when I got it. Get a 2 yr lease on the G35, when the G37 comes out be it this yr or next yr, you simply move on. Infiniti is simply giving the G35 away with the kind of lease deals you can get

You do realize the G37 sedan in Europe still has 306 hp?

Besides, the new FX is supposed to have the 3.5L below the FX50 so I doubt a G37 sedan is in the cards for the US, not like it matters. A 7 speed auto would be nice but never once have I ever said "Man I wish I had more gears" while driving the car.

I would like say yes but I doubt it. Maybe a minor update but I bet they will hold off on anything big until at least 2010 or 2011.

Probably won't make much of a difference in the real world. Check this link out:
http://nissan.iconicweb.com/assets/s..._NNA_Final.pdf

According to that chart, the top gear ratio for the 7A will be either 0.7745 or 0.7715 (yes I know that it's for the FX but it's a sure bet that Infiniti will utilize this transmission in all its FM-platform vehicles). Given how the top gear for the current 5A is 0.839, I for one can't see how there wil be much of a difference in either engine speed or fuel economy.

Any word on what the new changes will be yet? I have a lease that ends in August. I would really like to know the changes will be by July.

The rumor is still that the us market will keep the 3.5 engine, which was further strengthened when the substantially upgraded fx still has the 3.5

if they decide to upgrade it, i think they will put the 7-speed in but keep the 3.5

and if they substantially upgrade it, a lot of one year old g37 coupe owners are gonna be pissed that the sedan is way way better than their more expensive one year old coupes
