Does anyone know the 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile stats for the 07 G35x? I just want to know how much slower it is compared to the non-awd models....

 

It doesn't seem to be much slower at all: Car and Driver . Two 6mt had similar times (5.5/14.1).

In terms of acceleration & handling, the differences are pretty academic in normal road conditions, and would probably only be noticeable by the best of drivers in a track. However, in adverse road conditions (e.g. snow), the differences are huge. I have a G35x and it does fine with the stock tires in the winter with careful driving. But with winter tires, it is basically unstoppable in the snow. It handles great in the snow! My only worry is other drivers near me.

 

I've taken mine to the track twice. 07 G35x A5 bone stock. 14.0 @101 time after time after time.

 

thats pretty impressive. I remember the 1st gen G35Xs had a bigger difference in their 0-60 times. Thanks for the posts

 

No offense HRsedan, but I think the reason people ask this is to find out the comparable times from a source that can be assumed to use the same driver (or at least drivers of comparable skill) such as a magazine or other similar source.

In so doing, one can pretty much determine which car is "faster" in the hands of someone with exactly the same skill level. (Obviously one person may know how to launch RWD better than AWD or vice versa, but you get my point for argument's sake).

 

The driver might make a slight diference in the time. However, even if you put Kimi Räikkönen (Formula One 2007 Champion; Team Ferrari) behind the wheel, you're not going to shave that much time. The car, stock, one would think, should only be capable of gowing possibly as low as 13.5?? (think someone on this forum has approx. that time).

 

yea, i have taken my rwd once and hit the track 10 times. 14.0-14.1 at 100-102. its a 5AT and compared to a guy in a 6MT rwd, i was faster by a few tenths and mph. its mostly in the driver to really compare.

I will say, after the air temps are below 50 degrees, the rwd really starts to loose traction from a standstill on the street. I do believe, that on the street, the g35x will own a rwd only vehicle up to around 80mph. it is really hard to launch a 2wd vehicle on the constantly changing pavement conditions experienced on the street. this thing will white smoke them if you are off, in any way, of calculating a launch.


BUT, from a roll, the rwd does exhibit some better pick up speed simply by the enhanced parasitic losses of an awd drivetrain.

all of your gains from awd, concerning speed, are only at a stand still. but in the real world, it shouldn't be by much. I have noticed, first hand, this cars ecu will give your car the speed you want by the driving style you exhibit.

That guy's 6MT 07 G was slower because he really babies everyday. He confirmed this after we tried to trouble shoot why he was slower. So you never really know. I say, in summary, that you should get the awd if you have adverse weather in your area. Don't let street performance decide it.

 

There's been at least 2 G35Xs running 13.8s at the 1/4 mile track. They're very close to the non-X. I'm sure at 100+ mph speeds, the non-X would start to pull slightly due to the lighter weight.

 

I need to get the time to see if I can run my G at the track. Not many stock 13s?

 

I ran 13.859 in my 07 G35x. Bone stock on a 50 degree night. I posted my slips here back in October 07.

 

i would say the sport model would be faster because it comes with better TIRES...tires are pretty important when it comes to driving i would say.
