I've joined the club.... I Got Hit!!!!!

I've joined the elite club. I now sit among others like Speed and BlueSlate.

I left my house this morning with my 2 daughters with me and my wife, also on her way to work was following me.
I pulled out of my road and my wife waited for a passing car... a 97 Ford Taurus, paint peeling, all dented up, with a crack ***** behind the wheel.... probably late for her next trick.
As I traveled 55 in a 50 zone, she tailgated me for about 2 miles and my wife followed along watching the whole thing unfold. I was at one point tempted to drop the hammer to get her off my tail but I had my girls with me.
I drove along, pretending she wasn't there and when I came to a red light, BAM!!!!
I immediately threw it in park and ran to the passenger rear door to check on my 3 month old and her and my (almost) 5 year old were both okay.

Now, I understand that accidents happen. If a car pulls out in front of me or slams on their brakes, or if a kid chases a ball into the road causing me to stop quickly.... this I would understand being hit from behind.
This BI#CH had no excuse for her actions.

You should have seen her. She looks like she hasn't bathed in years... still in her pajama bottoms. Complete waste of skin. She had some guy with her and when she got out of the car and approached me, I yelled at her.
I said "You're in such a hurry that you had to slam your POS into my $40K car and nearly killed my family? Get the F back in your car!" which she did.
The guy looked at me, opened his door and when I turned toward him, he shut it. He never said a word.
Ugh. Probably a good thing.. I would have killed him.

Now, that all being said... this car is built super tough. The rear corners of the bumper where it meets the rear quarter panels both popped out and theres some scratching on the rear end. I was able to push the sides back in and it almost looks like new, but I have SEVERE shaking in the wheel when I brake at high speeds... almost like rotor runout.

A++ to Infiniti for building a great safe car, and down with crack ******!

I drive for a living, and when i see dipsh*ts behind the wheel, I will either really get going, or just turn in somewhere, anywhere, so as to get away from people who "draft" glad your girls are okay!! what did your wife do, or say about the whole thing? .... regards

I thought about stopping but there was no safe place to do so... It's a creepy road. The wife told the cops that she witnessed the whole thing from one car back and explained the tailgating and harassment the woman was doing. I asked for him to site her and he declined.
He said she was clearly at fault and that was enough.
I plan on calling the chief tomorrow. I think I deserve an explanation.

I just worked on the car some more. I'm a nut who is a little crazy about my car's appearance. I hope I didn't do too good of a job. The adjuster hasn't seen it yet.

glad to hear you and your kids are ok, and even though it's not your fault and the other person's insurance will cover damages... they never cover the inconvenience it causes. you have every right to be upset, but i think you should just let your emotions settle a bit, and be thankful everyone is ok. accidents happen. nobody purposely runs into other people.

just not sure what explanation the chief could offer you? don't waste energy and time on fruitless matters.

anyway, good luck with the fix...

No officer is going to write a ticket based on something he didn't see unless he can make the determination based on the evidence at the accident scene. She's at fault because it was a rear end accident, not because your wife witnessed it. The chief won't do anything for you but make you more angry. The fact that it was your wife in the third car actually hurts her testimony because she would be biased due to her relationship to you.

As the other poster said, let it go at this point.
