Question 2 Quick questions.

I know I don't post too often but I have 2 things & I wonder if you guys can help me out.

First off is I have a 07' G35x in Platinum Graphite that I hand wash religiously and detail usually twice a year (Clay bar and the works) so I know every scratch and chip on my car but lately I've noticed these strange brown spots showing up in the finish in the strangest of spots. By this I mean they don't appear to be on the surface and there are no signs of damage in the area i.e. chips scratches. I'm starting to wonder if they are spots of rust starting to come up from underneath the finish. Has anyone else experienced these brown spots? Also I've noticed more of them are under or appear under the clear bra, especially on the side view mirrors.

Second is perhaps an easier one. I have an invisicord for my V1 that taps into the review view mirror for power. I recently bought a Nuvi 660 GPS from Garmin and was wondering if anyone was aware of a similar idea for the Garmin, meaning a nice easy cable that would tap into the review mirror for power? I did a search and I checked the Invisicord site and didn't see anything.

Peace, Jeff

i know exactly what youre talking about. this is "rail dust". clay bar is the safest way to remove this. it looks like little speckles of rust. if you only have a few, use a cotton rag, slightly dampened, put it over your thumb nail, and scratch it off it. if you have more than a few, clay bar is your answer and believe me i did my research here. it is not rust forming from under the paint.

Yep, sounds like rail dust. You usually notice it more on the lighter coloured cars. I have not noticed it on my OB G yet but I wash, by hand, twice/week. My neighbours white Maxima and my silver Odyssey get loads of it. It's a bugger to remove but you sound like someone who cares well for his car so clay it again and it should come off. It might take a little extra effort though. BTW incase you where wondering...Railways are not the only source of this dust. Just about any process where metal moves against metal will produce fallout. Even your own car's brakes (as is likely in your case) and engine produces fallout.

Thanks Guys, I think the problem I might be having is that it's under the clear bra and this is why the clay bar won't take it off. I'll have a closer look at it again this weekend and determine what to do from there.
Thanks,
