No Comments. Talking about this car's gas mileage is like you go to the most expensive restaurant in the world and ask the waiter if they would give Free bread or Soda refillls.

I get 17.6 on premium with 30% city, 70% highway (NYC metro area and Long Island). Pretty much what I expected, a Civic it's not and that's the way I like it

I disagree with that, the difference between 16 and 22MPG for me is $1200 a year in gas!! That is about 2 car payments. I guess I am glad there are snough peopel that have the money to burn on the car and the gas. I don't know why it is so hard for some to understand there are some that $1K+ a year will make a difference in what vehicle they buy. Sure some want a pure sports meachine, others like me liek the sporty aspect of the car, but are just as attracted to the styling, and amenities of the car.

It is quite strange that there is SUCH disparity in MPG from those posting here and in the other MPG threads. I've rarely had my hwy MPG get below 25, and I also rarely go less than 75mph on the hwy (usually 80 is my avg speed). Most of our driving is higher altitude 2500-5000ft above sea level (not sure if that helps) and I use 91 octane and the tires at 38psi. Our city is small so we don't have much rush hour slogging, so our city mpg should be better than most folks here. We get 20-23 city, but I don't baby this car and on the hwy I definately am not a follower, lol
I don't worry too much about mpg, but if I was getting sub 20 mpg on the hwy I would definately be dissapointed.

I am averaging about 18-19 mpg according to the onboard computer and I usually drive 80-90 on the highway. My biggest issue is I am a sucker for acceleration, and since the G has a lot of it I know heavy and frequent acceleration is what keeps my MPG average low.

I really don't even bother to look at the price when I put fuel, nor how often I put it. I need fuel to get to work or wherever I am going. I knew what I was getting in to when I bought the car, so here I am with a G35 that performs way above what my old 2006 325i did, and gets considerably less MPG on average.

I bought the car for its performance, I really could care less about its fuel economy. Performance cars and the word "economy" when it comes to fuel usage usually cannot be used in the same sentence. You sacrificed fuel economy the day you decided to buy a sports car in my opinion.

DITTO.... 07/G35x. 12K on the clock, tires at 33 pounds (Take that barac O), Local driving - stop n go in city situations - not flooring it light to light, getting about 16mpg. Doing 65-70 on the highway, getting 23-24 mpg, just about the 08 EPA numbers which are more relaistic than the 07 EPAs. Winter driving with more Ethanol in the gas ("so called Winter Blend") mileage goes down 10%. On the tire pressure issue: I have found that the OEM tires at the recommended pressure of 33 lbs Feels the best aas far as ride comfort. More air in the tire feels too Hard & harsh although U may squeak out .5 mpg?? Not worth it to me....btw, Love this car !!!!!

There is nothing new about it. That is normal. Now if you floor both car in the stop and go that would be a different story. 35mpg would drop down fast.

And doesn't the Jag use a dead horse hanging from a noose for a "Low Oil" dummy light?

Driving normally im getting around 18 which is alot better than when the car was new. One thing i did find interesting was that the 3 loaner cars i have had in the past 3 weeks averaged 20 but they also had about 10 times the miles that i have so i expect it to get even better for me. In the end, i really dont care about MPG because of how much fun it is to drive this car around town.

EDIT: However my G35 does get alot better gas mileage compared to my supra

My 08 loaner was also 3 mpg better than my car... but it seemed to have the get up and go of a Prius on valium... just wasn't as fun as mine.

I attempted to get better gas mileage but it just isn't possible in my commute (especially when I'm not carpooling like today). My average MPH is like 30...and that has "Highway Driving" if you're talking about the road...but half the time on the freeway I could ride my mountain bike and pass people. I did do some highway driving with the cruise control on at 75 last weekend and it looked like I would get about 25mpg and that's not too bad. It wore on me, much to my girlfriend's chagrin, so I had to take it up to 120 for the last couple miles of the trip. If I want to save money, I could let her drive (like a grandma) but then I'd make smartass comments and be miserable...so I'll deal with the current gas mileage and just have fun driving.

No offense, but real HWY in those conditions is very difficult.

My previous car was a 02 5-speed WRX wagon. My G has 5k miles. Comparing both cars in my everyday usage for work, driving them in the same manner, and same miles every week, and also looking at past gas receipts my G35Xs is only costing me about $5 more per week in gas compared to my WRX. For the added comfort, luxury and performance (The G35Xs is a lot faster than my WRX when you floor it at 55mph) the added cost is worth it. In fact even if it was $10 more per week it would still be worth it IMO.

I don't consider the G35S or X a sport car. I drove both and actually had a G35S on a long test drive. For me the G is a Luxury/Sport sedan. And I usually drive it like a luxury car. But I do floor it from time to time.

Also in a recent trip to Lake George with the family and the car loaded with luggage and AC on I averaged 25MPG on the HWY. My WRX last year did 27MPG. Not bad at all.
