Since so many people have their panties in a bunch about the G37 sedan in europe and rumors that it may come here, no need to worry, looking at the Infiniti of Europe webpage here:

It says that the 3.7 L V6 in the G37 sedan comes with 310 PS (thats metric hp) and 350 newton meters of torque (curse that stupid metric system that the rest of the world uses). Some simple conversions show that this equates to:

310 Metric HP = 305.75 HP
350 Nm = 258.11 lb-ft

So no matter what engine it has...it'll have the same hp us 07-08 folk enjoy.

 

^makes sense because if the sedan had 330 hp like the coupe then it would tear the new coupe a brand new a$$ hole and possibly be as fast, if not faster as the 335.

 

But with VVEL and much more efficient. I won't be surprised to see 21/29 on fuel economy.

 

I've heard random numbers going around that the G37 sedan had 316 HP, which is erroneous.

But yes with the 3.7 L and seven speed auto, it'd get better gas mileage, but would probably result in an MSRP increase.

I can't see it making that much of an impact. I think it would be more in line at 19/25.

 

The coupe in 6mt form gets 26 highway. There is NO chance the lighter sedan would get worse mileage.

I could see 27 MAYBE 28 highway.

 

My 07 is rated at 19/26.

i can get about 25 and maybe 26 with the 08 a/t, so if anything, 7 sp should be about 27/28 mpg, city should still remain on the low side, extra gears doesn't really help low gear driving,

what would really help is put that hybrid technology in there, all that braking from a heavy car should generate lots of power

 

The website says "over 310PS". It's possible that Infiniti Europe is being conservative. Maybe Nissan doesn't want to upset the North American market, or maybe it's under-rating like BMW did with the 335i. Not to mention that detuning the VQ37 is just silly.

 

Yes and no. It is indeed rated 19/26. However with the new 2008 standards, it's estimated at 17/24 which is a much more real world number. That's what I'm seeing on average with my vehicle. Actually pure city driving I'm usually at 15-16 but close enough.

The rest of the world has generally used more stringent mileage calculations than the US had been until the new 2008 model year ratings.

 

I'll be happy to average 19 MPH every tank. Actually, I'll be stoked.

The EU G37 coupe is listed with the same specs as well. They could be doing it for fuel economy reasons + 7-speed auto for the EU.

We won't know the official North American numbers for the G37 sedan until they announce it. It still could come here with a full 330 HP like the coupe.

BTW, according to MT tests, the 2009 FX35 with 7-Speed automatic gets 16/21 MPG.
