An additional 24HP for a car that weighs that much is not going to make too much of an improvement. Providing it doesn't get heavier.
Here's a short take from C&D on an 08 Xs. 0-60 5.4 secs cars weighs 3854.
According to Infiniti the X weighs 3704. I'm sure the difference in weight on the XS is probably from the 18" wheels.

Here the G35 sport with a 6-speed. 0-60 5.2 secs, car weighs 3583 lb. The Xs weighs 271lbs more than the G35 and yet accelerate .2 sec slower to 60 mphs.

If the G37 sedan doesn't gain any more weight the additional 24Hp might reduce that to about 5.1 secs, if it does anything at all. If it gains weights it will not make any difference at all.

Unless you live 1/4 mile at the time the difference in acceleration is meaningless. I don't plan to take my car to the strip nor do I hit the streets at night looking for kill stories. If I did I wouldn't of bought a G. I would of bought another Subaru.

No denial or regrets on my end.
In fact by buying the 08 I got $4800 off the MSRP, the 1.9 financing, and I forgot to mention earlier in this thread the dealer also threw in the extended warranty.

Not posting any more on this thread.
Enjoy what you have whether it's an 07-08-or a future 09.

I highly doubt you will be able to get a great price on an 09 initially. Not enough in stock and the dealers are not going to be taking a lot off the MSRP at thsi time. But you should be able to get a killer deal on an 08 providing they have a car with the options you want.
So does that mean even by September/October, they will still have 2008 G35 sedans left in stock??

Hey, you '08 guys be happy, k? But, let's look at some key items. First off, there will be Acura TL, Audi A4-both brand new models so lots of choices...the economy is in the dumps and a lot of people that could get credit to buy these cars now can't or have vastly reduced credit. Smaller pool of buyers all around. I think deals to be had right away as 0% for 72, etc. is just the start of the car industy killing each other for a sale. Infiniti will have to be competitive as well.

Also, saw this same scenario play out on the 'vette...all the '07 guys hated on the '08's which got a new LS3 motor, t6060 tranny and steering improvements...big upgrades for the car....all of them said, will sell for sticker, no discounts, etc. Well, these cars were selling for 5-6 k off sticker as soon as you could order one, same discounts the 07's had...those guys shut up real quick. And were pissed.

g37 tranny - who says they won't gear this thing aggressively for even better acceleration thru the 1st 6 gears and keep 7th a nice lazy overdrive to get 29-30 mpg on the freeway?

So, lots could happen here...this is just one possible scenario.

You completely forgot to mention that the 6MT's time is completely traction limited in regards to the launch, while the X doesn't have that problem.

60' times will confirm that on the drag strip.

Here is what i think, i have an 08, but i had to wait until the end of the year to get a deal i wanted, if i had to wait an addition year to buy my car, i woul have not been able to enjoy the 30K i put on the car in the mean time.... the way i figure it, i am 30K closer to the 2011 G35... or whatever i decide to get that time around...

I like to clear about 110 - 120 K on a car before getting rid of it, but if this car proves to be as good as people say here, i might just keep it longer, and get a Porsche... (my dream car... laugh if you must, but i have wanted one since i was a kid.... so a 911, naturally aspired will be my next car)

------ HMM now to wait to see the differnce, i am just anxious to see the difference's the cars has over our 08's

When the e46 328 changed to the 330, a HUGE improvement in performance was gained from the 0.2L of displacement. Same with the 5th generation Maxima (3L to 3.5L) or the 350Z (VQDE to VQHR). I'm sure the car will gain 50 to 100lbs of weight but will that offset 24hp gain with more gearing. The 390hp 4500lb fx50 attained 0-60 in about 5 seconds. The 330hp g37 at 3700lbs will have a better weight to hp ratio and should beat that figure.
The FX50 does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. The 07/08 G35 is already faster than it. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...hotopanel..1.*

OK so i just spent 3 hours reading this damn 18 page thread and at the end i still cannot tell if the 37 sedan is myth or reality. I have to turn in my 06 G tomorrow and really REALLY would love to extend my lease for 60 days if there is a G37 at the end of the wait. The dealership in my area (Glendale, CA) acts like they have never heard of the concept. I called Nissan/Infiniti credit to inquire about the possibility of extending my lease and to find out if they could give me some answers. Guess what? they too had never heard of a G37 Sedan. i refused to take no for an answer and ended up talking to the National Marketing division director of Infiniti for the west coast. This fellow unsurprisingly had NO IDEA what i was talking about. To say that i am frusterated doesnt even touch it. I was gonna go in tomorrow with my checkbook and just lease a new car, but i gotta tell you with all the BS and misdirection i am severely tempted to walk next door to the BMW dealer and buy that 335i that i can't afford. Any one know anything for real? Its July 1st and still no official word. Help!

dude, I have an 08, I can assure the 09, if its a G37, it will be a better car. But, there is nothing wrong with the 07/8s. These cars beat anything thats out there in more ways than one. I will admit the 335i is faster, but thats where it ends, the G offers you everything else including value. I for one would prefer the G37 if it comes out, but seeing that this is still not confirmed, I would buy/lease my 08 all over again w/out thinking twice. Get a 2 year lease

Just my 2 cents

Nothing official has been released, but it will happen. If you want the G37 over the 35 or 335, extend the lease and wait for the latest and greatest. It will happen. It's car sales suicide to make a big splash with the new model before inventory is at the right level for the outgoing model (unless you are GM or Ford, buts that a subject for a different thread, different day). When the quantity of cars on the lots hits it's mark, it will be on! Be patient

this is one reason i'm hesitant to get a G sedan.. if they keep changing body styles every 4 years.. then forget it.. i need a car i won't get tired of driving.. and i have to keep it for at least a decade

i have a gs400 now and the good thing about these cars is they keep generations around for 7 years.. they do the same for the IS

infiniti needs to do start doing the same..
