loan car for sale. Is it a good buy?
anyways one of the local dealer went out of business and they sold all their loaner car to another dealer and they are selling for a good price. do you see any potential downside or problems in buying one of these?
G35-2007- 12k miles - premium package - 18inch rims -i think it has everything except for the nav. original sticker was $$36,700. they advertised it for 29k i got them down to 25426.
i test drove it and it seems ok. almost new. plus it still has warranty from the factor.

i've had a loaner from my dealership since tuesday...i almost blew up the transmission doing power brake maneuvers in an empty parking lot back home. the transmission just stayed in 1st gear and would not shift to 2nd....safe mode perhaps? anyways, i shut the car off for 10 minutes and it worked fine after that...
go for it lol
go for it lol
lol last time i got a loaner car from the agency i was "drifting" at a roundabout near my buddy's place. wet brick roads are the best.
honestly just pay a little on top and get a clean used one or go for brand new cause you never know how the car's been driven (mind you i drove the crap out of the car cause the dealer messed up my window controls during the service, and the temptation/anger won the battle)

ok the car is driven hard. isn't that what cars are built for? how much did you guys pay for your car anyways? around 33k? so if you pay that much you baby your car and are afraid to take it out and drift in your own car? what is the point of own one of these if you are going to drive it like a granny?
anyways thanks for the input. i will take it into consideration.

Dude, sorry everyone burst your bubble. But seriously, people treat loaners like sh*t. Dealers maintain them minimally just so they function. They put 87 octane in them. People eat in them, smoke in them, and do God knows what else in them. Etc., etc., etc.
My recommendation: Do not buy it. Get one with more mileage for around the same price that hasn't been treated like crap. 12,000 miles on a loaner is probably equivalent to more like 40,000+ on a one-owner well-maintained and cared for vehicle.
it's not that we baby our cars. i've drifted in my car before and etc. but with loaners people tend to go a little overboard.
there's a fine line between babying your car and driving the sh*t out of it.
loaner cars tend to be driven a little too hard for their own good, as ugaexplorer said in his post, he almost blew the tranny to the extent where he had to turn off the car for 10 mins.
i don't think anyone would do that to their cars unless the money they paid for it was pocket change and they weren't very fond of their cars.
EDIT: ^ BlueDevil beat me to it lol

Not to mention how much body work is done on a loaner. I guarentee atleast two panels have been sprayed on every sold loaner. they ALWAYS have dings dents scratches, etc...
Not only are loaners physically abused, but mentally too, it will have a twitch.

Wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole...
as others have mentioned, loaners get absolutely abused, spanked, drifted, eat in, smoked in, and generally treated like sh*t.
The one time I had an '07 loaner, it had 15k miles on it and definitely seemed like it had lived a hard life until that point. There was a world of difference between it and my own '07.
My dad used to say that buying a used Corvette was like marrying a hooker. I'd say a similar adage applies to buying a loaner G.
I would buy a single-owner, adult-driven G way before I even considered buying a loaner.

I'm gonna take a different stance here. Many times when people buy a 2 or 3 year old used car they're buying a lease return, loaner or rental vehicle that's been returned to sell as a used car. I'd say that lease returns by people who intended to return the car, loaner, and rental vehicles ALL get beat to hell by their drivers. Yet plenty of people get damn good prices on a 2-3 yr old used car and the car drives perfectly well.
If you're getting this car for significantly below bluebook/market value it may be a pretty good deal. As the OP state, it still has the factory warranty, a 10/100000 extended warranty isn't that expensive if you're really concerned. The only thing I'd worry about are wear and tear parts, so assuming an auto tranny, we're talking brakes and tires, which can be checked out prior to purchase.

thanks all for for giving your honest opinion. it is all good. no worries. i am ok if you guys say this and that. not that big a deal.
"My dad used to say that buying a used Corvette was like marrying a hooker. I'd say a similar adage applies to buying a loaner G."
As for this quote.... marrying a hooker isn't all bad just as long as the hooker get you your money. Better then marrying a gold digger who takes all your money and screw your best friend behind your back.
in other words.... it is better buying use loaner (hooker) that runs well vs buying a new car that is a lemon (gold digger).
right????
anyways i am still debating. a new G35 will run me around 33k-35k so it is around 10k more.

it sounds like you have your mind set and ready to go. you obviously dont care wat people have to say about loan car. if it comes with good warranty, go for it. just go for it and never look back.
Personally, I wouldn't buy a loaner car. Kinda like buying a rental car, you have no idea what the people who have driven the vehicle have done to it or how they have driven it. I currently have an 08 G35 loaner and though I'm not abusing it, I am flooring it because it's nice having that extra horsepower as opposed to the '06 model.
Although there are positives to look at, such at the low price, in the long run, it may not be the best choice. You don't want to have to deal with maintenance early on.
