I think I just sold someone a Bimmer...
This has probably happened to you too, but I've had a few people randomly come up in parking lots and say "How d'you like your car?".
This time, a gent walks up, asks, and turns out he's looking at the G or a 328i. I tell him that a BMW is typically going to be more expensive for the same options, the 328 may be smoother but the G will be faster in all respects, I think it looks better, etc.
Then he says "How's the mileage?"
"Terrible"
He looks a little startled, then I say "Most people are getting 17 - 18 in city driving." He looks worried.
"But since I bought it because I like how it handles and drives, I get 14 - 15." He looks seriously concerned.
"And BTW, you have to put in premium." His eyes roll back in his head
I'm thinking G may not be in his plans. But hey, I told it to him straight - if you like to drive it, buy the G. If you're looking for the best mileage - don't.

Luxury cars and MPG do not mix.
Any BMW owner who thinks theyre REALLY getting 30 mpg is fooling themselves.
The TL and 335 guys do just as bad as we do on MPG.
~300hp is ~300hp.

TRUE TRUE... BUT A G IS A G
yeah but i thought the guy was looking at a 328i, not a 335i...if that's the case, then he will be better off on the gas mileage
i mean a 328i is only like 230hp

LMAO... You can granny foot any car haha.. they should seriously report 2 numbers for MPG... one for like simulated Full throttle and one for like normal 3000RPM driving.... that way people know what they are getting into ... VTEC is a prime example... when not in vtec ludes get like 24-26 but in vtec you can see the fuel line dropping

) then he should ride the bus.
if hes worried about mileage tell him to look at the pruis. if he is looking for a fun factor and an enjoyable daily comute then the g is the way to go. i would gladly pay the $75+ to fill my tank and enjoy the miles than pay ~$35 to fill and have a boring drive.

Had Vtec Prelude back in the day... That **** would get <15mpg city when I was driving in a "spirited" manner
I was sorta like this:
You guys REALLY need..
Those concerned with fuel mileage really need to get Infiniti to start to import the 2.5 liter from Japan...
Heck we can't even buy a X with a 3.5 here - only 2.5's
I drove back from Hakodate the other day - a 250 km fuel test on a toll road - and got 12.4 km / liter
12.4 km / liter = 8.065 liters / 100 km = 29.17 miles . US gallon = 35.03 miles per Imp. gallon
These results under the absolute best conditions... 100-110km/h on cruise...
In town I average about 7.5km/L = 18.58m/usG = 22.3m/impG
Hey - no monster power like the 3.5 but still very nice and easier on the tires etc...
NOTE - - those MPG figures are all on an X
Cheers,

I know gas is expensive, but making a decison on what car to buy based on MPG as the most important feature... is pathetic. I have even less respect for people who pay top dollar for hybrids who think they are going to save massive amounts of cash. A 2004 Prius with over 100k miles for $18k???? F*CKING RIDICULOUS
Not to mention, the "dork" factor.

I'm sorry, but what you drive is just as important as what you wear and how you look. Like it or not, it is the society we live in. The sexy looks of the G35 are undeniable.
Top Gear a few weeks ago did a MPG challenge: Prius vs BMW M3. 10 laps on their test track with the Prius being driven hard and the M3 just having to keep up.
The results: Prius 17.2 / BMW M3: 19.4
When it comes to saving gas, what you drive is not as important as how you drive.

^^^ No joke. Just hope a Prius isn't behind you on the highway. For example, a 2008 G Sedan? 210 feet to stop from 80. A 2008 Prius? 256 feet from 80!
