6MT Vs. Auto w/ Sport Package
I would agree the manual car in the correct hands is still going to be faster straightline from a dig, mainly because of the 60ft capability. I think this car is easy to hook up out on the street, even with a relatively high rpm release. I've read alot of negative things about this cars clutch engagament and manual tranny in general (mainly from magazine reviews), and well, I've got about 6000 miles now on my '08.... and I found it to be just the opposite. It drives excellent. I love the engagement point and the clutch will hold very well. The shifter is precise and the shift throw distance reminds me of my old 98 cobra with a 5.0 pro shifter, without all the notchiness
look for an '08 6mt to run some crazy 1/4 time this fall

My choice basically boiled down to fun. I'm a purist and a car, any car, just isn't as fun without that third pedal. I also plan to autocross the car a lot and I'm not about to do that in an auto.
the new G35's auto is a great tranny. Not as fast as the properly driven 6MT but very close to it. I will not be surprised when the next generation auto is actually faster than its 6MT version like the BMW 335 is nowdays.
