I would certainly have waited for the 7 speed auto. I asked the dealer and she completely denied that there is a 7 speed auto coming out. All she spoke about was the G37 convertible. I wish i knew about this forum prior to my purchase.

New 7A has down shift rev matching, a wider ratio span, and a broader lockup range
"broader lockup range" what this means?

That means the torque converter will lock up earlier in all gears to reduce slipage. The new 7AT most likely lock up in 2nd gear where's the 5AT will onl do it in 3rd gear (4th and 5th0 above 4000rpms under different load conditions. This improves both fuel mileage and most importantly for us gearheads, acceleration. Locking up the TC sooner will allow for a direct connection to the motor just like a manual. Torque converters have really come a long way in the past few years because it use to be you couldn't keep one locked up at WOT or else it would blow up. These fancy TCs are largely the reason why the 1st gen G35s, newer BMW autos, and the Lexus IS350 are so quick for their power to weight ratios.

It appears that 330hp is pretty much confirmed for the G37S as MT and C&D are reporting the same numbers for the car. 7AT, a 24hp gain, and self healing paint for a few hundred bucks more? Sounds like a good deal to me.

the awd sedan is like 200lbs heavier than the 6 speed RWD sedan. I know some here think 200lbs isn't that much in the performance arena....I disagree 100%. 200 lbs is significant, not only from a straightline component, but also road course capability. It's easier on the driveline and also the brake functionality/reliability.
