i have alwayes wondered what it would be like to know what would happen if you had the key in your pocket and have your friend/spouse drive the car away while your standing outside....

It's already been done (unintentionally and intentionally) by some drivers, including myself, on this forum. You can drive away, any distance, without the i-key. The car doesn't shut off.

 

Maybe they changed the 2nd gen G35 but my 05x makes beeping noises alerting me that the engine was still running everytime i step out of the car. I too have 4gotten to turn off the engine but then the beeping reminded me. Why didn't OP's car beep when he walked away with the key in his pocket?

 

Ours beep too.

 

My little brother likes to listen to music in the G and he will sit in the car for about an hour long about 3-4 times a week
