Who detemined the dog that was hit was a Pet? No one mentioned a tag that I recall. One guy claimed it was a $2000 poodle. All we know is it was a dog accoring to the driver. Could have been a chupacabra. It's unknowable at this point.

You said, "But you are taking a huge leap saying an "animal" is property."
Yeah, there are strays. But if you don't stop to find out whether or not it was a pet you hit (property), it's a hit and run. And FWIW, it's illegal to hit a pet and leave the scene of the accident.

Wow, what a thread this turned out to be.
Firstly, some of you guys really need to chill the hell out here and quit the verbal attacks.....it's not cool and it won't be tolerated.
I personally couldn't even begin to imagine hitting someone's pet with my car and NOT stopping.......but that's another thread entirely and I think this thread has gone off topic enough.

Is that bumper cracked really bad? If not, the fix is very simple... our bumpers are urethane, so they can be heated and bent back and repainted. If there's a small fracture, it just needs to be sealed up before the paint, but they need to use a nice, soft material to bond it back together. If it's a huge crack, then it just might be simpler to replace the whole thing.
That really looks like a small crack at the most. A new bumper will run you about $300 and paint. Repairing it shouldn't be even close to that much.
