I dunno. I think this whole airintake hp gain is out of wack. I don't mean to start another war but....

I think you can gain more with the throttle body bypass then the intake mod.

Just think about it. The air comes in and goes thru all the way in the engine bay which is high temperature. Then it goes thru the throttle body which is like 180 or so. I think the air is hot enough anyways. Plus the tubing is alumnium which transfers the heat even more. And if the engine bay is hotter then then the alu will take some of the heat from the bay.
I could be wrong.

stillen claimed they made a little bit more power. im the type of person that thinks every bit helps, some dont like spending $ 500 for minimal to no gains i dont mind it. im not going to say the results with my butt dyno, but when i raced my friends cars there was a difference in the outcome from stock to short to long. and again im not saying the gains were 5 10 50 hp from the intake. i have no idea how much 1 hp feels or w.e. so if i got .000001 hp from it, so be it. but car is fastER.

I wish mine had no gain... and no lose! I'm trying to find a place in teh OC to dyno with and without Stillen... it definetly was louder, did not feel faster. As for beating friends car... it's going against an M6, 335, 335 or is250... so i either get whooped no matter what or whoop them no matter what. I need to find another G with FI and stillen and then see since I just have FI

You should not get whooped by is 250.

tg

Suby you are right. If it feels faster and you are happy so be it.

Reread his last line, he states that he either loses big or wins big. I would assume he wins big against the IS250.

Since when do intakes make HP....?

Every manufacture of intakes makes claims of more HP which just aren't true,
unless you consider 2 to 3 HP a gain. When combined with a quality spacer
like MotorDyne and a cat-back exhaust that's when it shows results. I've had
my Stillen CAI/Z-Tube since my car was new and have zero negative issues
with it. I can tell you that if you opt for the metal intake heat soak will kill
HP before it ever reaches your plenum....heat is your enemy!

Well, from what I've read the 335 gets us too.

not to thread jack, cuz this is another infiniti vs bmw war all into its own so this is all im saying about this.
thats a negative. well maybe not fully because all i have expirience with is a hardtop convertible. and those are in the rearview im sure there is a slight better chance with the coupe itself, so that would be dead even. goodday

Have *any* of you guys ever seen the posts where when the stock airboxes and filters were removed, there were *still* no gains on the dyno? This was confirmed by both Sharif and Jeremy Tibbs.

If a free-flowing filterless setup isn't going to show gains, nothing else will.

Doesn't any one perform any due diligence any more?
