Sounds like your dealer is screwing you or I got a helaciously good deal. I live in Kansas City and there is only one Infiniti dealer in town and he was trying to screw me too, so I went to St. Louis where there are two Infinit dealers. That way there was more competition. I got mine at Plaza Motors.
How do you think I feel? There are 10+ Infiniti dealers within a 100 mile radius from me. So-Cal at its best.

Regarding incentives:

The 3000 I believe is on a PURCHASE or non-IFS leased/financed deal only.

Well, that's good. Now it's VERY evident why you need to see all of the numbers! The difference in money factor alone is 2.5% to the interest rate which could be $50-$70+ month difference alone! Then having a difference of 2-3% in the residual. Yup, that would do it. I'm guessing things are off by at least approx $150/mo with those differences.

So if the IFS numbers are the same as quoted in the previous post (still not 100% sure about that - were you able to confirm this?) and you received the invoice price on the car with the lower residuals and money factors I think you would be right in the ballpark.

Time to make some calls to other Infiniti dealers within driving distance!

So now you know they misquoted the $3,000 incentive (evidently purchase only or non-IFS lease) so that was mistake #1. You also know they aren't willing to negotiate on the sale price on an '08 when the 09's are right around the corner (probably will change toward the end of the month) and you know the lease numbers they are using are much worse (in terms of money factor and residuals).

Looks like you got a look inside the paper bag! I'm glad you were able to get this information. Now you just need to decide if you still want the G. If so, I think it would be well worth a phone call or two to other dealerships to double check those money factor and residual numbers. and to see if they would negotiate on the price.

Hey - Mike from Riverside might even be able to do something for you that would be better than that if you picked up the delivery charge .

Either way I'd at least give one more shot elsewhere to see.

Good luck and please post back what you find out.

Here's the numbers and by the way, even though it doesn't say it anywhere on Edmunds site, apparently the $3K dealer cash is ONLY if the car is purchased...it does not apply to IFS leases. The dealership I'm talking about doesn't negotiate on price so yeah the price of $38,585 is rediculously high for a 2008 that has been on the lot for awhile.

Purchase Price = $38,585
Cap Cost = $779.05
Money Factor = 0.00220
Residual Value = 54%
Term = 39 months
Acquisition Fee = $595
Doc Fee = $50
Title = $33
Road/Bridge Fee = $11.50
Insurance Dep. Fee = $6.00
Inspection Fee = $23.75
Dealer Inventory Tax = $59.80
Payment = $657/mo with First month's payment down

Like I said...looks like I won't be a G owner anytime soon. Paying $15XX over invoice with the dealer getting the holdback as well means they're making well over $2K on that car...that's rediculous I'm sorry. I understand the business and agree they should make profit but not over $2K. Oh well.

I've confirmed that the money factor should actually be .00120 to op over pm. They marked it up all the way to .00220. These guys are being very slick. This is a g35 journey which is not a rare car. For the mass produced g35 which has been out for 2 years and is getting a facelift, it should not be hard to find a dealer close to invoice and with the base MF.

I know BMW dealers were marking up MF's on almost all the first e92/e90 m3's that came in but those cars were very lmited then. Dealers do markup the MF and it is not illegal, just that its odd that an infiniti dealer would do it on this car.

I got an 08 xS IP with spoiler, mats, and mudguards (the accessories were on the car before it came to the dealer) for 553.22 a month, with only the 1st month payment up front (all other fees rolled into the lease) I got 500 loyalty, this was 2 mos ago. Make sure you always do your homework and know your money factors, residuals etc. When I went to BMW as soon as I mentioned that I did my homework, the salesman right away changed the money factor in his computer and actually put it below the posted rate... So always be armed with your info (write it all down - what the dealer tells you and what numbers you found at home).
good luck making the best deal
