Price check on 2008 G35 Sedans...need feedback quick!

We are about to pull the trigger on a G35 Sedan, premium, nav, and sport. MSRP is $40,500

What is a good price on this? I have the dealer at 36,500 plus taxes, tag, license..blah blah...

You guys seeing anything better?

Sounds too high.

I purchased '08 G35S about 6 months ago. Lakeshore Slate/Stone interior with Sport, Premium, Navigation, Splash Guards, Carpeted Trunk Mat, and Cargo Net. I also asked dealer to include free wheel locks, "G35" logo license plate frame, and touchup paint (approximately $100 value at dealer retail prices). I paid $35,218 (almost $1,000 under invoice, including the free accessories) plus tax and license, and no other dealer fees.

Currently, Edmunds.com shows MSRP for this configutation at $40,135 and invoice price at $36,558, with TMV (True Market Value) at $34,983 which is almost $1,600 under invoice:
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/infi....html?action=2

Carsdirect.com is quoting the sale price for the same G35 configuration (with $40,135 MSRP) at $34,008 which is $2,550 under invoice:
http://www.carsdirect.com/build/opti...&restore=false

At this point, given the state of the economy and the fact that it is the end of the car model year, the quote of $36,500 you received from your dealer (which is basically invoice) looks too high. I would print out the carsdirect.com price quote and use it to negotiate with your local dealer. If that doesn't work, you could buy it via carsdirect website through their affiliated local dealers.

So, to answer your initial question, $34,000 + tax and license would be a good price to pay for '08 G35 with Sport, Premium and Navigation this late in the year.

Good luck.

Dealers are currently receiving $3,000 in "Marketing Support" from Infiniti to sell the remaining 08 G35s. Most will pass along a good portion of that back to the consumer so it shouldn't be a problem to picking up an 08 below invoice.

As long as you are not financing, yes there is 3000 dollars available.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I have cash-in-hand and have been looking for well over two months now. Remember, you should be getting this car at DEALER INVOICE at the least BEFORE the $3K dealer cash if you are not financing with the 0.9%. What I'm seeing in my area (San Antonio) is that our local dealership (Gunn Infiniti) is trying to still sell their cars for about 1500-1600 over Dealer Invoice BEFORE the $3K cash so if you don't finance, you end up paying about $1500 below invoice but that means that the dealer margin is well over $2K per car which at this time of year is rediculous. On the other hand, if you finance using the 0.9%, you pay $1500 over invoice which again gives the dealer over $2K in margin per car...that's why I'm still "G" less.

This looks even better than the $34,008 price listed on carsdirect.com, as I have indicated in my post above.

The $33,858 quoted price is $2,700 under $36,558 invoice price for this G35 configuration, which sounds right for the end of year and given the additional $3,000 rebate available to dealers.

So is the bottom line that right now a 'good deal' is about invoice with the 0.9% financing or about $3K under invoice paying cash?

If you're buying new, YES!
One issue I've run into is availability of the the exact color/package combination I'd prefer.

Yea, me too! That is why I'm probably going to drive to a dealership 250 miles away this weekend to buy my car.

It was a little lower than the cars direct price in our zip code.

Hey Shariff, is your new sedan going to be the new Shop project? or is it the new family car?
