Pricing help...is this a good deal?

Just got a price on an 08 G35 sedan.

Blue slate, Wheat with wood grain, Premium package

MSRP- 36630

Price-34791

Seems to me they can do better than that on one of the last remaining 08s. What does everyone think??

Wow, that's an incredibly bad deal at the moment. I bought a G35X with premium pkg, nav, tech pkg, and wood trim two weeks ago. MSRP was $41,780 and the negotiated price was $36,000. That includes a $3,000 factory to dealer incentive effective through the end of the month and another $2,780 of dealer margin for a total of $5,780 below MSRP. That number is before taxes and registration.

Your deal is only $1,839 below MSRP. You should be able to buy at $3-4K less than that. Of course this will depend heavily upon where you live, competition in your area, and inventories at local dealers. In CT, there are plenty of dealers and at least a few weeks ago, supply of 08's was high.

Hope you do much better than that offer.

The average deal going for 08 G's has been a few hundred +/- invoice when NOT including any incentives (although some have done even better). So, if you take the $3000 incentive then your final price should be nearly $3000 below INVOICE.

32900 final price. They said I could not use the .9% financing if I took that price. Hows that sound?

Thats what I dont understand. He said it was an either/or deal. Either take the first price with the .9 or take the second price and find my own financing. I am waiting on a call back so I can haggle for something better.

Infiniti Corporate says its 3k or .9% financing.

It's your decision.

Mike,

Looks like you are in the loop, what do inventories look like? THe 3k incentive is about to end, I bought my car last month when the incentive was 2K. If inventories exist then Infiniti is likely to increase this incentive again in the next few days.... then the OP will should expect his dealer to take some more off if he wants to take the chance.

Thanks for helping us out

Dealer called back and said 35500 with the .9 financing or 32900 and I find the financing. The payments are pretty close to the same either way I go.

So thats 1130 off MSRP with .9 financing or 3730 off msrp and I find financing. I guess thats as good as its going to get.

You should be able to do much better. Shop another dealer or two.

I received e mail from local dealer "ALL 2008 G35's in stock $8,000 off MSRP" or $5,000 off with 0.9% financing for 60 months. With the G37 sedans coming out, they should be doing better than what they offer you.

Where are you? If you're in Montana and you're talking to the only dealer in 150 mile radius, you might be looking at the best deal you're gonna get. But, if you're near a major population center and there are several dealers around, you should definitely be able to do better.

Im in louisiana. I called a Dallas, Texas dealership and told him I was given a 34xxx quote and he said the best he could do was 35900. It blew my mind that I was seeing all of these super low quotes for 08s and I was getting quotes barely off invoice.

Invoice for your car from edmunds.com is $33,434( including destination fee) minus another $3000 marketing incentive = 30,434 + tax and tag. No dealer prep or other BS. Its the end of the month, end of the g35 to new g37. You should not pay any more than invoice above. If you wanted to go up a couple hundred just to make the deal with less hassle I would. Dont ask them what they could do $$$ wise call them tell them you are ready to buy and ask them if they will/can do your figures for an easy sale. Good luck.

Brad

My area has several dealers so it make it easier. I dont know about where you live.

I got my G35x a few weeks ago for $152 over invoice and I know that's probably not the best I could have done. I just wanted to give an example so you know that you don't have to accept $1000 or $2000 over invoice. Granted, I live in the Philly area and there are probably a dozen Infiniti dealers within a 2 hour drive. But I still think that's no excuse. If they have 08s left, they should be willing to work with you to give you something fair if you push them on it.
