Pricing help...is this a good deal?

Yes, I'm in the market, so any additional info you have to share would be helpful!
Was your below invoice pricing due to the VPP program, or did you negotiate it on your own?
Did you deal with Ken, or a different saleperson, at Kirkland?

We bought our G35X a couple of weeks ago for almost 6 grand off MSRP. I think it was a good deal at that moment and we were able to get exactly the car we wanted. But if you're willing to wait and possibly compromise on color and options, I've gotta believe that the deals will only get better. Winter's around the corner. Typically not a huge car sales period in the northern states.

Just so you know, no dealers give their "best" price over the phone. They know that people just use it to shop against other dealers.
Like everyone has said, offer $3k below invoice. But, do it in person.
Do you have a trade in? That matters too. They could give you $10k off the MSRP, but hose you on the trade in.

I test drove the cars I might have wanted and then decided on the G35. I then did my research and called the dealers by phone ALWAYS negotiating the out the door price. I told them that I don’t care if your processing fee is $30k and you price the car at $4k, I want to know you’re out the door price.
My younger brother bought his car this way (M3) as did my parents.

I figured since it was month end, and they were only a few cars away from their quota per my salesman, it was probably as good a time as any to negotiate. If I wasn't going to get a deal that I could live with now, then maybe it wasn't the appropriate car financially.
Initial offer Sunday for an IP Sedan Sport 6MT with Nav, Premium, Splash Guards, Trunk Cargo Net, Trunk Mat and Wheel Locks (and with or without the rear spoiler) was $36,506 with 1k down and then factor in the $3k incentive plus TTL. They had 2 IP 6MT sedans, one with the rear spoiler and 220 miles and the one that I ultimately chose, the one without the rear spoiler with 33 miles.
In short, my salesman was very very proactive (though not pushy) and came back on Monday after tons of calls with a "final" offer (using the 0.9% financing after I decided that I preferred that over the $3k incentive) of $38,900 OTD (with TTL and $0 down). I told him let me talk it over with the wife.
During that time, I called Beaverton and Fife. Beaverton had a Platinum Silver 6MT with the same configuration but without the Nav (which I originally didn't want). They were willing to do $31,350 + $50 doc fee + trip permit fee to drive it home using the $3k incentive -- $34,143 using the 0.9% financing instead. I think I could've gotten a slightly better deal if I tried but I wanted IP.
Fife had an IP 6MT configured exactly the same as Kirkland. They came back with a best of $39,6xx OTD using the 0.9% financing. I told them I already have a better offer on the table and the salesman said go ahead and buy that car then.
Fife's sales manager called me back later to confirm that I had a great deal at $38,900 OTD and that if the numbers changed when I went to buy at Kirkland, his offer was still good but he wouldn't go any lower. He seemed rather shock and I mentioned that I was hoping to get an even better deal from Kirkland but he didn't think it was going to happen.
Oh yeah, I recall asking for $38k OTD and eventually raised it to $38,250 OTD. After figuring out what invoice was, I decided that $38,900 was fine and I was going to take it since it was $98 under invoice except he called me back first and was able to offer $38,500 OTD or $456 under invoice.
My salesman was Brian Barclay but he was there only a month and actually left yesterday and to start a business in Spokane.

In the middle of paying for my car last Wednesday, I had another dealer car and say, "Don’t sign anything, Ill give you $150 off the price your about to sign." I ended up getting the car for $930 below invoice. I went to the showroom on saturday to test drive the G35 and NO one was there except for me and my friend for the whole 90 minutes I was there. This is a dealership that usually sells 200 Infinitis a month. There sales manager said that Salesmen turnover is really bad now. Last month he lost 5 of them.

FWIW, you got $930 under invoice, we're talking about $3k under invoice.
