ocg35, how did it look painting it?? when u take them off, is it hard to put back on cuz of the glue or is it simple?? my guy told me hell do it for 150 but he rly needs to sand it down cuz the chrome is hard to take off.

Thanks for sharing the info! I just remembered that there's a place in Van Nuys not too far from me that does decals/wraps. I'll stop in and see how much it is. I just want a matte black look so I'm sure they'll have something.

I had a body shop do mine both times... I don’t think there is any glue behind... the aluminum ids very thin though, so car must be taken when removing, handling and installing as not to bend.

I like the look of them painted - yes sanding is required to scuff up the finish so the adhesion promoter and or paint can stick... prep is like anything being painted.

Here are pics - the first is the color I went with originally - the original idea was black chrome (everything I mentioned a few posts above)... but couldn’t find black chrome paint, so I went with a smoked theme... FWIW, I have found black chrome paint since then, if anyone is interested I’ll post links… it lasted a couple years then started chipping (I don’t think is was prepped very well)... the 2nd pic is what it looks like now (pre-07 door handles were polished aluminum look too, so I had them painted).
