Important Info about 09 Sedan Performance wheel and tire package

The Performance Wheels and Tires package on the 07/08 sedans came with staggered Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires. Sizes were 225/50/18 and 245/45/18

The 09 Sedan Performance Wheels and Tires package comes with Dunlop Sport Maxx A1 tires. These are NOT staggered. Tires are 225/50/18 all the way around.

Small, but important distinction.

The sport package continues to come with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires, staggered.

Also, note that AWD Sport cars come with M+S tires, not the Potenza RE050A's. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me the model; I know that the xS comes with 225/50/18.

Im not sure but I hated the potenzas. I replaced them twice before 25K. And they are not cheap either. I got the wheel/tire warranty so I did get some fixed but at over $300 per back tire it was getting crazy.

They're high performance tires. With the new sport package, most people will probably opt out, which is why the RE050A is reserved for just the sport package.

99% of the sedan consumers will never use the 050A's capabilities, and only experience the drawbacks of a high performance summer tire (road noise, short life)

I loved the Potenza. My roommate is using my stock 18s with them on right now...

Ditto, the 050a's are pretty decent tires if one cares to explore its potential. They do wear fast, but what high performance tire doesn't?

I kept my 050's and OEM wheels, but for daily driving i also have a different set-up using Falken FK452's. Cheaper, quieter and comfier, plus i can rotate so it's more practical.

Has anybody seen the wheels on the upgraded wheel and tire package? I guess an advantage of them not being staggered is you can rotate them. That should lengthen tire life.

I'll post the info here too. My 09 xS has Dunlop SP Sport Maxx A1 A/S tires.

They're still unidirectional so the can only be switched front to rear, not left to right (well you can but you have to take the tires off the wheel to do that).

Our 08xS has the Dunlop Sportmaxxs to. Pretty decent tire actually. Handles real well.

I still think the tires/wheel setup in the sport trim is a little conservative. The sport suspension should be lower, need bigger and less offset wheels/tires. The G rear slides a little too much for my taste. Lower and wider track on the rear will help and make the rear more stable.

Maybe, but the G is not a track car, it's a luxury/premium sport sedan. Yes, there's the small portion of the market that wants more performance but the majority of people won't pay for it.
