What is going on with G37 Sedans not being sold till Jan '09 in The Atl area

Folks, I just found out that Infiniti dealers will not get any G37 till Jan '09. Also that they are not accepting orders. Something smells fishy. I was told they would have them in Mid Nov, and today I was told they will not have them till Jan '09. What the *** is going on?

I think it's Partly because of the bad Economy right now. Since no one is really buying New Cars right now, they probably have a big Stock of 08 G35's that they can't sell. So I think Infiniti is not sending any 09 G37 Sedans till they sell most of thier 08 Stocks. Times are real hard right now. SO just wait a little more, and you will have one soon.

Times are tough for all the manufacturers but I still see '09s out now.

At this point, Infiniti should just wait another month or two before releasing and call them 2010 G37.

They can blame it on the economy..

I was told they will get a few, but that volume will pick up in December. At this point I may see just how low they will go to clear out a 08, I wanted a G37, but at the end of the day a 08 will be at least about $5K less than an 09. An 08 gets $4K under invoice and then 09 will be about $1K more anyway, so assuming you could get an 09 for invoice you're still aroudn $5K more than an 08.

Off topic, but for those who can wait, I wonder how long before incentives on the 09 are introduced. The 09 FX already has $4k cash to current infiniti owners. I'm not sure if this is any indicator for the G37 but my guess is we'll see incentives within a few months (this is pure speculation).

I was wonderling the same, but seeing as the FX is an SUV class and SUVs are taking the harders hit in sales I suspect maybe by March we'll see some incentlive on the 09. Decemebr is usually a good month so my guess is if that is weak for them then we may see incentives as soon as January.

the FX was introduced with the owner loyalty.

I don't see the 09 G getting anything anytime soon, given the agressive incentives on the 08. Why would they cut their own throats?

My dealer said that they would not receive any additional '09's until January as well. Funny thing, the other day I went to have my alignment done after the drop, and the shop where I was having my alignment done called up both Bommarito and Plaza to call for alignment specs on the '09 G37 sedan. They both claimed that the car didn't exist. As a joke, my shop was gonna send them an email with pics of my car on the rack. In the end we just used the '08 specs. I mean what can be different? In addition, they couldn''t even pull my VIN in the Infiniti computer system to purchase some TPMS sensors and rubber floor mats.

I understand it's not desirable to discount but what do you mean by cut their throats?

Unless they've slowed production to match customer demand, they're building inventory which they'll want to move; possibly by offering incentives. Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part.

Hey Mike, you're with a dealer, so what is the real scoop, what is the new date for really being on sale, I don't mean 1 or 2, did Infiniti really just push volume shipments back to January?

Infiniti will not release volume shipments until the 08's are all at the dealers.

Yes, they still have 08's at the port.

Infiniti has absolutely no reason to incentivise the 09 sedans when they're still trying to move 08 sedans. If they were to put the same incentives on a 09, who would buy an 08?

You're kidding me? Still 08's at the port? Seems like real poor planning on their part, they will face harder and harder competition from all sorts of released and releasing 09's and all they'll have are left over 08s? I mean even with their $4K discount it basically barely makes up for the huge immediate depreciation you take right now becasue it is a year old car the day you buy it. Seems to me they probably never intended to release the 09 for a while because they were selling G35s fairly well right up through August.

Yeah I kind of agree on this one, they might as well, might give them a sales edge to be selling a 10 so soon.
