Infiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan quesion?

So I have a 07 G35s 6MT sedan with about 24K
I wanted to consider getting the Infiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan warranty. I was quoted the following prices.
Do they seem like the going rate or am I getting ripped?
Thanks.

My name is Russ Kabrins and I am a Finance Manager at Infiniti of Santa Monica. I am offering you an Infiniti Elite Extended Protection Plan Warranty and not an aftermarket one.

Services include:

* Service at Authorized Infiniti Dealerships- Service is performed by Infiniti trained technicians.
* Unlimited Claims- There is no limit on the number of claims for covered repairs.
* Provides for the cost of genuine original equipment replacement parts- Repairs will be made using Genuine Infiniti new or remanufactured parts, or Infiniti approved parts.
* Emergency Toll Free Help- If a breakdown occurs outside your area, you are covered.
* Substitute transportation- If a mechanical breakdown caused by a covered component occurs, Infiniti will reimburse up to $50.00 per day and $250 per service visit.
* Transferable to a new owner- If you sell your Infiniti before coverage expires, you can transfer it to a new owner. .

I wanted to show you the options that are available. You have to decide which is more important, time or miles? Let me know which way you would like to go and I can take care of the paperwork.

I wouldn't bother

In my experience, Nissan/Infiniti products have been supremely reliable. I'd be very hesitant to shell out that kind of money for something I may never use. I'd keep the cash in the bank and draw on it if necessary. I always thought things like extended warranties, road hazard packages, paint protection programs, etc. were all gravy for the dealer. Others may disagree.

I don't think you'd see a cost advantage by getting the warranty. I agree with JMZ. Infiniti gives us a pretty good warranty anyways when you buy the car, and it is fully transferable.

I got one with mine for $1,587 just to shut the finance manager up because I was hungover and just wanted to get outta there. I think he knew that and probably used that to his advantage, in any case kudos to him.

Its not a bad thing to have if you aren't good with cars and DIY. I am but it is nice to just drop my car off for a day and have them do all that work for you. You end up saving a little bit, especially since my 15,000 mile service was about $500.

The service tickets will tell you how much the service was and under "Amount owed" you'll just see a zero.

I got it for that same reason, I just like be able to drop it off and have them do the work.

I really don't see how 1,587 for 46months/60k miles is worth it. over 60k miles I would expect to do the following:
1. 16 oil changes @30 bucks/per = 480
2. 1 auto trans flush = 250 ish (nissan dealership even cheaper, or DIY)
3. Rear diff fluid service = lets just say 150 bucks
4. 4 air filters @ 16 = 64
5. Coolant flush = i'm gonna guess and say 150-200
Total = approx 900 (i would say this is an upper limit)
That's all that should be even needed, granted most people just do oil changes and air filters up to 60k miles. So I would say do the pay as you go method, as anything else is covered under your warranty anyways.

correct me if I am mistaken but its not just service?
if the alternator, radiator, coolant system, etc goes out after 60K this warranty will cover it. A dealer would charge up to $500 - $800+ to get each of those fixed

But the elite service only covers up to 60 months/70k miles. You're covered up until 48/ 60k anyways. almost 2 grand for 10k more miles isn't worth it. The odds are in the consumers favor on this one.

you can negotiate the elite prices, and you can cancel to get the remaining balance if you decide its not worth it

The best price I found was with Courtney Mutema (finance manager) at Infiniti of Scottsdale, AZ, @ 480-941-0055. She offers Elite plans at $100 over cost. She is very nice and knows what she is doing. You can also finance it over up to 18 months for free with 10% down. And there is a Costco discount...

^^ Thanks for the info tytamto - I am debating on getting an extended warranty. Do you happen to live in AZ? Was payment over the phone? I live in Hawaii and would like to shop around for various possibilities... Thanks again!

I'm sure that by your information, you're getting an additional 30-70,000 miles on your warranty, so that's not a bad deal..

Fyi, this is a good idea only if you don't modify your car, ( and void some or all of your warranties ). It's a better idea when purchasing one to get it with the 0 deductible, the difference you posted up is so small that the first time you pay for the deductible you've just paid the difference, and every time after that, is just money out of your pocket. These cars are pretty expensive to fix, so if you're planning to keep it long term, I'd go with the warranty. ( I've seen people posting about 3-400 dollar locks, radios, sensors, window motors etc. )

I was able to get a 7yr/100,000 Elite Extended Warranty for $1595 on my 05 G35 Sedan. Should be able to talk them down in price if you are really interested.
