Acura has far and away the best voice recognition software in the auto business today. Infiniti's isn't bad but it's not up to Acura's standards. Thus the frustration with only being able to make voice inputs while in motion. The scrolling is also a problem. Personally, I think the nav lockout while in motion is overkill and especially frustrating if you have a front seat passenger and they're perfectly capable of working the unit. The video lockout while in motion is probably pretty warranted though. I need the yahoo next to me on the road watching TV while he/she's driving like I need a hole in the head. Especially on top of all the people that read and send text messages while driving or can't figure out when conditions warrant a need to put down the phone for a minute(i.e. merging areas, busy intersections, etc.).

Fungusmud, I sent you a PM in case you hadn't noticed. I know you're new to the site and might not be familiar with the system.

all *evolved* cars wont allow you to work around with the nav system or any other tbh while driving.... just a safety measure. same with our es350..

I think most drivers on the road need such a safety system, its bad enough with all the text'n'drivers and talkin'drivers around....we don't need nav'n'drivers or movie-watchin'drivers as well.

yes, but on the Lexus there is a service menu if you touch in some corner, or something along the lines of that to allow inputs when driving. i wish the G was like that....

most of the time I don't use my nav, but its cool to have in the car. the few occasions i do, i wouldn't mind disabling it.

Using voice commands is usually faster than typing it anyway.

However...if you're looking for a POI while driving.....

Removing the upper rear seats are easy...just unclip the bottom rear seats by pulling on the little locking mechanism...one located on each side of the rear bottom seats...then unbolt using a 9/16mm i believe, each upper rear seat...each upper rear seat has 2 bolts...then you have to kinda lift it because there is a latch that holds on to them...good luck
