I have the stock Sirius antenna that came with Sirius Kit (the boxy type) that I would like to replace with a shark fin. Don't know whether it will improve reception (which isn't great), but the aesthetics would be better. The install seems fairly straightforward, although the DYI is for a previous generation G.

I recall seeing a DIY Fin install on a 2nd Gen sedan, with Pics. It was a couple years ago. He removed the head liner and drilled through roof. Very clean install. I will try to find it.

Edit:Never mind - it was the same DIY you posted the link for

I have the factory Sirius unit installed (got a few weeks after I bought the base G 2.5 years ago). My Sirius antenna is mounted midway on top of my rear window (right next to it), and it is the same as this kit:

I was wondering whether it was possible to install a shark fin instead of that boxy antenna. The answer is likely yes, but I don't see myself wanting to drill a hole in my roof just to install a shark fin, which may look better but probably will not improve reception since my antenna is already sitting outside on top. I would be much more inclined to consider a shark fin install if I was having reception problems due to sat antenna being inside the car.

i wanna know if I can go the other way and remove the shark fin with an alternative to leaving a hole in my roof.

is there a flatter cover?
