to be honest i have had 8k and 6k in my g35 and i have to say there is really no big difference that i could see while driving except in the rain and the fog but even then the 6k dont help out that much. i mean i have seen the lighting theorem and everything about the higher color temp the lower lumen output but i dont think there is that big of a difference in actuality from a human eye perspective

I honestly would not get anything higher than 5000k...

The only 6000k I accept are the Philips Ultinons, and even still, I'm not sure I like them too much. I can't stand the PIAAs, and realistically, no truly reputable bulb manufacturer makes anything much over 6000k.

^^^What do you call a truly reputable bulb manufacturer?
That's what they say, but I've had 8000k in my last 3 cars. The difference in brightness is not noticeable IMO.

Philips, GE, and Osram are the main manufacturers for factory xenon lighting. I guess other quality names would be like PIAA, Hella, Polarg, and other more familiar lighting names, but I wouldn't trust too many of them either. I stick with Philips and Osram.
There's a huge difference in output... I guess you didn't really notice the additional glare that much either?
I just ordered some Philips Ultinons (6000k) and I'm looking for some 5000k Philips bulbs, and I guess I'll be comparing them if I can get my hands on a good camera. But I ultimately want to try some 50 watt ballasts to get a little more output from the bulbs.

Guys... do you all remember regular old halogens (xenon is a halogen gas, but i'm talking about pre-xenon HID bulbs) ..
HID is VOLUMES BETTER... i find it funny some guys wanna get brighter... sometimes when technology makes something better, for me, it continues to overwhelm me to the point where i'm still impressed each time i get in my car. I first had xenons in 2001 and to this day, think stock HID is amazing.

I'm certainly not an expert when it comes to lighting.....all I'm sayin is when I park the car with OEM bulbs in, switch the bulbs, and then leave with the 8000k, the only drastic change I see is the color change. There is still plenty of visibility with the 8000k whether it's a clear night, raining, or foggy. Maybe I've just got really good eyes
I'm sure there's a difference in output, but it doesn't stick out to me.

When the road is wet, sometimes in the fog. I'm talking about the light glaring back at you, not at other drivers... the more yellow the light the less glare/reflection. Although I don't think the pure yellows help either... The yellower lights will also cut through more fog than your 8000k HIDs can too.
