6MT had some clutch problems I believe(I use that word lightly...I think room for improvement is better?) but the 5AT I don't think has shown any problems to date. I think it depends on how you drive though, if you haul @ss then I think there are some hard shifts in the lower gears, but in my mind, its an auto. That is going to happen.

Just my .02

2008 G35 Journey Sedan no sunroof
The transmission software changed for '08. The '07 models are a little jerky (but not everyone will notice). Dealer can run update on '07 model by request.

5AT trans is same unit that's been around since '03 model (originally used in '02 Q45 with much bigger engine) and it has been reliable over time.

Rock solid tranny and engine which is willing to take abuse(not recommended ) And is MUCH smoother than the last gen G's, all in all A+ from me with 27+k on the odo

07 G35S 5AT here...

10k on the clock. Zero engine issues, zero transmission issues, zero mechanical issues. It is an excellent car.

Some people had the ECU reflashed for hard shifting than some regret it later. Other than that nothing. I would not consider that bad tho. I loved the way my 07 was shifting. The 08 a little smoother. I think I like the 07 shifting better.
