I finally got able to try the snow mode switch today since it got fairly icy in MD.

With the snow mode switched on, i looked at the dash, and there is no indicator that "AWD" is on..........however, i did see a few flashed of "SLIP" if i remember correctly.

Is this normal? thanks!

I believe the only time you will see the "AWD" light on is when there is something wrong w/ our AWD system. So in other words, you don't want to see it on.
"Slip" is an indicator that your tires are slipping which isn't a good thing either.

Nope. There is no indicator light.
The only way I tell that snow mode is on is by how the car drives, like it's taken a few Valium.

Or look at the switch. It has a light built in. If you turn it on the light is on. Just like the hated seats.

is it ok to have the snow mode on as a precaution in a scenario where there is no snow, but the weather people have put out a warning for some ice patches?

There is no need to put it on, if it senses any slippage it engages the AWD system automatically.

The snow mode only works at speeds below 20Kms/h or 12 mph, below those points you will have drive 50/50 front along with reducing power if there is too much slippage. Really the only real time you might need the switch is if you are stopped and you have to power through some very deep snow. I never find it necesssary, it works awesome without using the switch.

I call it the "Wife on Board" switch.
I flick it on when she's in the car and it helps me from snapping her neck when I start off.

hahaha......i haven't press my pedal to the point where it thrust me to my seat yet. Only have 600miles...so waiting on hitting 1K to test out its speed. Gotta find somewhere safe to do it as i strongly object fast driving in public. So as of now, 0-60 in 11sec sounds about right to me, lol.

Just to clarify, I wasn't talking about driving fast or with intent to speed... just commenting on the response from a stop.
Drive an 07 without the ECU reflash. The throttle response is so rediculous that they came out with a TSB to address it.
I haven't had it done cause I love the super touchy throttle.

The 08's are WAY easier to start off smoothly.

ohhhh, got what you mean now!! The 08s are actually really smooth from a stopping point. In fact, i thought the throttle response is a bit insensitive from the starting point with my G35x, but once its rolling, the throttle response is quite good. Now when i test drove the camaro Z24 i believe a long time ago, a lil feathering on the gas jerks you back in the seat....at less then 5mph!, lol

My '05 fx35 was unbelievably responsive also like you all are describing with the 07 g. I guess there is no way to mod the car so the throttle becomes more responsive in my '08?

I just got my Black Betty Grounding Wires, which is supposed to improve AT shift times as well as improve throttle response.
(Like I need more throttle response! LOL)
I'll have them installed by the end of the weekend so I can't speak from first hand experience, but that's one option.
Another option would be an ECU reflash, like Technosquare or Camp3.
