Why?? I smoked a new TL type S, fwd from all speeds. The fwd weighs more, and the awd is almost 600 lbs more than a 07+ sedan. It has less hp, less torque, and it looks like a Saturn from the front. Downgrade man, dont do it haha.

I was wondering what kind of icon to use to show I am joking, I guess the did not work, let me try this one

I would NEVER consider anything but the 335i and the G.

Any bets there will be people advising me not to buy the car even after this explanation

Its late, let me sleep

For what it’s worth, I’ve owned a 2004 TL, a 2006 IS 350 Sport and now a 2007 G35x (Sport paddle retrofit).

The TL was a nice car at the time, but I would classify it as a touring car – comfy and quick enough for most situations. I had added the Sport suspension myself and a RASB. Handled pretty well for a FWD rig.
The IS350 was a damn rocket in a straight line, and super smooth, in fact, too much so for my tastes, i.e, numb.

The G is a little less refined, much quicker than the TL, but lacks the “get” of the IS350 (it really was a fast car). But, keep in mind, the IS had virtually no back seat (for all intents and purposes, it was a two-seater), was a rattle box, and the tranny, although very, very smooth, never seemed to be in the correct gear for performance, so sport mode was the only way to get there. And, the Lexus dealer in Albuquerque has got to be the worst in the fleet.

In any event, I think the G is the best blend of practicality, sport, design and features, plus I have AWD. However, I do miss the other two from time to time; call me sentimental (and a speed freak for the IS).

To each his own, right?

Enjoy your ride.

Joe

The TL doesnt outperform the first gen G. There is video evidence on youtube (which i wont post) and the numbers are about identical.

I am responding to a few people on the second page saying the TL outperformed the first gen Gs.

Our car is CRAZY fast. I use the downshift mostly when I'm getting on the on ramp to the freeway. There are always a bunch of d*cks who don't let you merge in and try to speed up instead - that's when I turn up the G-uice.

I drove an IS350 and the car "seemed" to take off much faster than the G, I have the X version so I figured that might be reason for it. The S version is just as fast as the IS right?

Although I have an ‘07x, I have driven two 2008 G sports, and they were not quite as fast as the IS.

Once the IS was fully broken in, it was quite fast, and although I can’t remember, it may have been a little lighter, which, if true, obviously helped.

If you guys can feel the difference of 0.1-0.2 seconds in a 1/4 mile run, then yes, the IS does feel faster.
