For me at least, the ride quality sacrifice quiet a bit because I have a low profile tire plus drop. Is it bad? Not really but 18" or 17" stock rims and no drop is definitely more comfy than 20" low profile tire and drop.

Ive never heard of that. My last car had the same rims for over 5 years and never did i once have a bent rim or needed and alignment or had a balance problem. Lots of guys on here have had the same wheels for a period of time and im sure none of them have had these problems either.

ride quality

from some of the responses that i'm getting the ride is a little harsher but this seems to come from the guys who have also dropped your g's. do you know if the springs that you replaced the oem springs with stiffer than the factory ones? i'm not going to drop my g so if the stiffer springs are the problem i won't be affected.

also for additional info i live in texas where potholes aren't as big a problem as they are in colder climates.

Aftermarket springs are always going to be a little stiffer than oem ones. Shorter spring has to be stiffer to keep the srping from bottoming out due to it being shorter. And even so, its still not that bad on lowered springs. But if you stick with the oem springs, i really doubt you'll complain about the ride. I mean hell, i bring my 79 year old grandma to the grocery on the weekends and shes never once mentioned the ride was rough. In fact, shes actually took a nap a few times on some longer trips haha

Yup, all my friends are always wondering how my car rides so smooth, and i tell them b/c i didn't drop it yet, and they all tell me not to drop it, b/c they think it rides perfect the way it is...

From my experience, harsh ride quality is not really due to stiff springs, but lack of suspension travel. Ride quality suffers the most when the car fully bottoms out on its suspension. So, if you get a set of soft lowering springs, ride quality may feel good over small bumps, but when you hit a moderate or large bump, you will hit the bumpstops hard and ride quality feels like sh-t.

OTOH, if you get a set of lowering springs with a higher spring rate, it will keep your car from hitting the bump stops and the overall ride quality may actually be better.

If you're not going to lower your car, going to 20" rims/tires will not significantly affect your ride. It will be firmer, but it won't be ridiculous - as long as you run the correct tire pressures.
