Brief comparison of V35 G35 and G37 sedans
Took my 2008 G35xS into the dealer today for some service, and got a 2009 G37x for a loaner.
Initial impressions of the G37:
I don't really feel the difference in power, although who knows what the ecu has learned from prior drivers.
The gearing helps mileage, certainly, but it seems like it spends more time trying to gear-hunt.
The startup cycle is MUCH louder and slower than my 08. "Ckick, Whir, Click, Clang" then starts.
Absolutely no options installed (I didnt know infinit even offered a manual steering wheel adjustment)
The non-sport seats are just not comfortable; too short in the thigh, too soft everywhere.
Overall, I am much happier with my 08 than the 09.

Thank you for the peace of mind. I feel a little better about not waiting 6 months for the G37 sedan to arrive (I bought my car May '08 while the '09 sedan came out later that year!!!).
Honestly, I had NO idea a G37 sedan was coming out for 2009. I asked the dealer and searched online, but couldn't find anything.
Nonetheless, the G sedan is beautifully crafted and is a joy to get into every single time.

they should be. depends if nissan is going to refresh the body style of the G (which they usually do after 4-5 years of a run). im just itching to see the direct injection to be put into the G in the next 1-2 years.

I've never driven a G37 sedan (only the coupe) but will say that the G37S Sedan has some fugly wheels on it.

See my thread and my very unscientific results. But if my #'s are not accurate I'm pretty sure my results were correct. The G37's engine accelerates better for passing and starts to pull away at speeds of 90mph's + and also breathes better at higher altitudes.

Sounds like you're just trying to justify your purchase. Most of your complaints are simply due to the fact that you have more options than the loaner car and I'm sure some of it is just the placebo effect as I've heard nothing but great things about the 7 speed automatic.

I knew what I was getting into, and if my quick review seemed like it was bashing the G37, such was not my intent. I was, however, surprised by the relatively low-budget startup sequence (click, whirr, rattle, rattle, click, start) of the 3 G37 sedans I have now driven (all different cars/colors, all with less than 3K miles) compared to my G35. And, as I said in the OP, the acceleration was not commensurate with shorter gears and higher power. I will grant you that I did not drive it over 100mph to see how it compared at that speed, but getting arrested to see if it is faster at speeds i dont hit except on a track isn't my idea of fun.
And I had another loaner today, it too hunted gears much more noticeably than my stocker, comparing D mode to D mode.
And yes, YMMV as to seats, but I meant to imply that, FOR ME, the sport seats are so much better than the non-sports as to be a deal breaker on the car.
