Acceleration tests, 08Xs in DS Mode

I posted this yesterday in MyG37 forum but will post it here in case someone on this forum is interested. These are very informal passing power tests all done in DS mode.

I ran both tests 3 X and my #'s were always the same. Also keep in mind that other factors can affect these #'s such as elevation and weather conditions, kind of muggy yesterday. I ran each test 3 times on route 287 North in NJ on my way to see a client and on my way to a road test that did not happened.

I used the trusty CD player as my stop watch, very scientific.
From 60-90 mph's in DS mode flooring the G, it took 7 seconds to hit 90mph's.
From 70-90 mph's in DS mode flooring my G it took 5 Seconds to hit 90mph's.

I was hoping to test out a G37X sedan, provided it was broken-in, in a similar manner. But my dealer which I will not name at this time, would not let an existing 45 year old customer wearing a suit take out a G37X or Xs on a test drive without a baby sitter. So I left.

If anyone has a broken in G37X or Xs and wants to post there #'s I would be interested to see how they compare. I would also be interested to see how a RWD G sedan or coupe or would do. Will the added weight of the X affect the car's passing power??? If no else tries this I will post my #'s next time I get a loaner G37X, provided I get one, next month when I'm in for service.

Also I might be ordering an HKS air filter and If I buy one I will try the test with the HKS filter in place.

Maybe next time when you are due for an oil change go to the Infiniti dealer in bridgewater (not naming names). They use G37x as loaners and it was interesting comparing my 08 G35xS to G37x when I drove it about a month ago. It will cost you about $40 but at least you will get a car wash and test out your G37x timing.

Today I took on a test drive a G37X from a different dealer. The car I took out on a 2 hour test drive was a loaner with 5288 miles. They were going to give me a new car but I told them I was interested in comparing the passing power and would prefer a car broken in already. This is my last test of this kind. I came very close to getting caught by the cops. Good thing I know this hwy well and know most of the hiding places along the side of the road.

Here are the same scientific test with a new one thrown in:
G37X
60-90mph's, 7 secs, same as my G35Xs
70-90mph's , 5 secs, same as my G35Xs

New test added and the last one I'm conducting unless I have access to a track.
60-100mph's, 8 seconds. Ran this test 4 X.

After getting my car back I ran the 60-100mph's test on my G35Xs.
60-100mph's varied and I ran it 6 times.
8 secs 2 X
9 secs 2 X
11 secs 2 X on an higher elevation area of the hwy where the G37Xs did it in 8 secs.

The 3.7 engine works better at higher speeds compared to the 3.5 and seems to breathe better as the higher elevation did not affects it's performance compared to the G35Xs.

Overall the passing power is slightly better when accelerating to higher speeds but not enough for me to upgrade. But the RWD G37S Sedan is a different story.
I'm done.

It should be no surprise the results netted no difference with the measurement method used.

It should be a surprise this thread is still open......

I took some figures on Dynolicous program on my I-phone. I did 3 runs:

0-60 mph = 6.48
0-60 mph = 6.73
0-60 mph = 6.95

But I think it could be better

Why, I wasn't street racing and that stretch of hwy where I conducted my tests is pretty empty during that time of the day. I'm on this hwy almost every day going back and forth between clients.

Really? That is super slow. 5.2 to 5.4 is expected.

Did you have your VSC off? I think that might cause the car to run slower due to the car is trying to grip the run.

For the record in my tests the VDC was on both cars. Considering that the conditions were dry and the cars were always going at least 60mph's I don't think it would of made a difference. But the VDC in the 09's from what I've read here is supposed to work better.

I would love to see how a G35S sedan or the G37S sedan would compare to the X's. Maybe once under the way the added weight of the G will not make a difference.
