Tinting

do you guys know the tinting limit in SoCal? Im not a fan of staggered tints it looks ugly to me...I'd rather have a good tint all around (fronts, rears, back window) thats dark and keeps the sun out, but won't get the cops on me...any suggestions?

All i can tell you is the legal limit for all windows in MA is 35. and im with you on the staggered tint thing but im sure cali's laws might be a little looser on that

In California, I believe the tint laws go:
Any % rear window
Any % rear passenger windows
70 % front windows? (or no tint?)
It would be better to post in the SoCal section of the forums since this topic is more relative there. I've got 15 in the back and 25 in the front right now.

The "Law" in CA states that no tint is allowed on the front windshield or the front 2 side windows, however.... it really depends on the cop that pulls you over. I've had limo tint (5%) all around on my last 2 cars and have gotten pulled over for it (ONLY by CHP, local cops don't seem to care at all...)

It really depends on where you live and how strict the cops are. CHP will almost always stop you, city cops not so much. Either way the penalty is only a fix-it-ticket ($10 court fee and front tint removal). Small price to pay for a great look IMO. If you have 35% tint all around I doubt it'll be a problem (Granted 35% is not very dark), anything below that (20% - 5%) and you're stepping on a fine line...

dammit...well then 35% all around is not too bad you think? wut about 40-45% front and 30-35% rear? Does that look staggered, and if it does (which is pretty gay imho) do you think itll look good rather than not having any tint at all?

I've had 35% on mine since December of 2006 and have not been pulled over yet (knuckle sore from knocking).

x2 on 35% all around. I've had it since Mar/Apr 0f 2007 and have been lucky so far. Make sure to get ceramic tint. It will deflect heat better than limo 5% of metallic tint and keeps the classy look of the car.

20% all around is the only way to go

but i heard in cali, it really depends on what part of cali...socal i heard is the worst, but if you're up in northern cal, i'm sure they wouldn't be as strict...only an assumption
