Water leak after windshield replacement - car died on me
I have a 08 g35x. I had the windshield replaced on Tuesday. The person said after the first 24 hours I am okay to do what I need to (car wash etc). So today - Sunday, I took my car into the car wash. As I was in the wash, water started POURING onto my feet and all over the accelerator and brake. As my car was being pushed out of the car wash it turned off. I quickly turned it on and moved into a parking space. The service engine light came on but the car remained on.
I called the windshield replacement manager and he said he has never heard of anything like. I could not see any leaks from the windshield. I opened the hood and couldn't really see anything either (b/c everything is covered).
I decided to wait a while and attempt to drive home and take it into the dealership tomo (they are closed Sundays). Anyhow as I enter into the intersection and MY CAR DIES. The cruise light is on and wont turn off. I pull off to the side and every single light inside the dash turns on. Mind you its 100 degrees out and I have two babies in the back. At this point when I push to turn on the car I can hear that's its trying to start but it wont turn over.
The tow truck arrives an hour later and we drop it off at the dealership. The car will not turn on and the trunk wont open...it's completely dead
I did a quick search here and found a post here about a driver having the same issue but the leak took place on the passenger side. I WISH it was the passenger side, but it's not. Anyone ever hear of something like this happening?
I'm mostly worried about the electrical components of the car.

I personally havent heard of anything about it. I did a little search for you that resulted in very little information. There is a single site that speaks briefly about leaks but it is not pertaining to windshield although I thought you mind want to look at it.

They also talk about trying to use a hose to narrow down the possibilities which can help you determind if it is indeed the windshield or not. Good luck and I hope you get the problem undercontrol.

Thank you for the link. I hope the dealership can determine how this all happened. The window replacement place said they would cover all costs if it was b/c of their install. Everything points to it being the windshield replacement but you never know.
I appreciate your help.

It seems like that some water leaked into the ECU harness which is located on the passenger side right underneath where the windshield meets the car body. It doesn't take much water to short a computer.
wow, sucks to hear. I'm glad your windshield replacement company is offering to cover the expense if it is there fault, if not, with an 08', at least it'll be covered under warranty. Keep us updated.
Update:
Infiniti did find a leak in the windshield but they said that my battery was dead and that was probably why my car kept shutting off. They could find nothing else wrong with the car.
The windshield company is taking responsibility and will pay for a new battery and tow truck charges.
They will be coming out Friday to replace the windshield.
I still think the two are related (windshield leak = car dying on me) but oh well I guess we will never know for sure.

I am glad your windshield guys are being so cooperative. It's nice to see someone stand behind there work.
I am curious about one thing though. Had you ever used that same car wash, for this car, prior to the windshield replacement?

Me too! That's why I am giving the windshield company another shot at it. The manager has been on top of it the whole time and was there at the dealership the whole time. In regards to the car wash, I've gone there a dozen times with no problems. The manager of the windshield company said he will meet me there next week and put the car through the wash himself to make sure all is well. Two thumbs up for the windshield company and great customer service.
