Track Day with 2200 miles?

When I bought my G37 Sedan from Grubbs Infiniti they threw in a track day at Cresson here in Fort Worth.
So... I was considering doing an oil change before I go. What do you guys think?

Thanks.
TxRider.

yeah change the oil, makes sense, I changed mine at end of break in and then every 3-4k after that, it is overkill with modern engines, tight tolerances, and better manufacturing practices, but for less than $20 its worth it. Insure your tires are properly inflated and you are good to go..... Dont forget the video camera and post afterwords so we can all enjoy!!

Always change oil, flush radiator, change the fluid, top off power steering, brake fluid etc...take all precautions. Buddy of mine just changed his oil and he blew his engine due to his radiator fluid being old....I don't think you'll have that issue. Good Luck, remember have fun!!

Thanks guys. I'm gonna change the oil and check all fluids. Basically the Premium Maintenance (except the Differential fluid). Did a search on Oil Filters and got sucked into a Mobil1 thread - what time sink that was.

What suprised me is how small the oil filter is -what's with that? The thing is tiny. My sportbike has a bigger filter!

On another note - I signed up for a Huyndai Genisis Coupe test drive/track day for next month.

I guess I'm missing my 5 speed Z.

+1...

After the Trak day, check your oil and change if required. i also like to bleed the brakes after any track day...

Enjoy...

oil filters do not really catch much these days so they can be small, if they do its probably bad news for the motor already

Have fun at the track!

..There is a larger filter that works fine.
IIRC it's the one from a Maxima

I used to use the M1-105 filter on my Max, it was ridiculously larger than the OEM or Mobil 1's own M1-108/M1-110 but it didn't do anything more than the latter two as far as BlackStone was concerned. (I went as high as 15k miles between changes).

Later on, it was theorized that the larger filter was detrimental to the engine's performance when cold/starting-up as it required more pressure to get oil moving at that stage.

free trackday with the car!?!?!

sounds like a scam to me, so if something goes wrong later they can say it's cuz you drove it on a track!

kidding....maybe? but have a great time, post up pictures and videos and stuff!!

Scam! - NO WAY!!!

Just got back. What a total blast!

We were on the technical track today and the speeds at best were up to 80-85 mph down to 40 mph in the tight turns. This track had elevation changes with turns on both ends of each section. A freaking blast! Many many kudos to Grubbs Infiniti for hosting this event.

Out of eight cars, there was one G37xS Sedan, M35, G37s coupe, 1 or 2 G37 coupes, 2 G37 Sedans, and my G37S sedan. A nice variety for the day.

I took a quick look at what video I got and will have to make a color adjustment as well and flipping the image right side up and left to right. It may take a while. I was only able to get a couple laps durning our first solo session on the track before the battery died.

So hopefully I'll be able to get something that shows this little track well.

We'll see.
