Very true. The TL is a lot of car, but the G35 is just a monster. In the end I think I'm going to end up with a TL since they are selling for closer to $20k, certified and the mileage thing is a concern for me. I could afford to pay to play with the G, but I rather pocket the extra cash. In the end, I guess I should consider myself lucky if I'm settling for a TL, which is a really great car.

Thanks for the help guys.

Im in the same boat as you. i drive around 50 miles a day round trip from houston to tomball and have an 07 sport. i bought it with 23,800 miles in march and it now has about 33,500. if you are worried about tire wear replace the summer tires with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus. its a Z rated tire with a 45k mileage warranty!!

If you are used to driving FWD cars then you wont really know what you are missing out on, but IMO RWD cars take the cake. also the TLs that i test drove torque steered like a biach!! (the Type s at least)

On a fun rating the g is fun to drive even when you arent pushing it or going fast. I got to take the TL type S home for a day (they must have really wanted me to buy it!) and by the time i took it back i knew i couldnt justify paying the same for a FWD car with all the features and less power than the RWD G.

Gas doesn't seem different. Price doesn't seem different. Performance, A LOT DIFFERENT!

I leased an '07 TL for 1.5 years. Good car, great mileage, not that exciting to drive. If you get the Type S, you might enjoy it. However, the poster who noted the torque steer is absolutely correct, and the difference between FWD and RWD or AWD is night and day.

At the end of January I took a huge loss and traded in my leased TL to buy a loaded '07 G35x. I put new tires on it then (Bridgestone Turanzas) and they've held up just fine. I drive 120 miles a day, and I've yet to have a single issue with the G. I get 20-21 mpg driving 90% highway at 80-85 mph.

I'm currently at 53,000 miles, and the car still performs perfectly. I think as long as you keep up with the preventive maintenance, you'll be fine. Given how much you drive, either car will provide you with the comfort and creature features that make the distance bearable. The TL will save you money, but the G will make the drive worth it. When I'm spending close to 2 hours a day in my car, I want the experience to be as enjoyable as possible, and the G definitely lives up to that expectation.

I had the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT on my short list before I got my 2007 G35x. Plenty of power, AWD, nice interior, and relatively inexpensive for a new car. With some cheap mods, you'll be pushing 300hp. Definitely worth a test drive.

i drive an 07 g35s, and drive 70 miles each way. I bought the car new, and now have 44k, and i just replaced the tires ( i had the potenzas, and switched to HTRZIII), I could have gone at least 48k. I dont get much traffic, so I average about 75 mph, and am getting about 24mpg. While sometimes i hate putting so many miles on my car, I love driving the car, and would easily pick it over the ones you are considering (have driven all of them). Good luck.

yea id agree. tl is fuel efficient and has a bit of punch for its class, but otherwise def the G!

i Don't know about the tl's but i know most honda motors are really good on gass until u decide to give a lil punch to the gass pedal and then youll suffer from serious gass consumption where as with the g even spirited driving only takes you a mile or 2 down in gas mileage.
