Im in the same boat as you. i drive around 50 miles a day round trip from houston to tomball and have an 07 sport. i bought it with 23,800 miles in march and it now has about 33,500. if you are worried about tire wear replace the summer tires with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus. its a Z rated tire with a 45k mileage warranty!!
If you are used to driving FWD cars then you wont really know what you are missing out on, but IMO RWD cars take the cake. also the TLs that i test drove torque steered like a biach!! (the Type s at least)
On a fun rating the g is fun to drive even when you arent pushing it or going fast. I got to take the TL type S home for a day (they must have really wanted me to buy it!) and by the time i took it back i knew i couldnt justify paying the same for a FWD car with all the features and less power than the RWD G.

I leased an '07 TL for 1.5 years. Good car, great mileage, not that exciting to drive. If you get the Type S, you might enjoy it. However, the poster who noted the torque steer is absolutely correct, and the difference between FWD and RWD or AWD is night and day.
At the end of January I took a huge loss and traded in my leased TL to buy a loaded '07 G35x. I put new tires on it then (Bridgestone Turanzas) and they've held up just fine. I drive 120 miles a day, and I've yet to have a single issue with the G. I get 20-21 mpg driving 90% highway at 80-85 mph.
I'm currently at 53,000 miles, and the car still performs perfectly. I think as long as you keep up with the preventive maintenance, you'll be fine. Given how much you drive, either car will provide you with the comfort and creature features that make the distance bearable. The TL will save you money, but the G will make the drive worth it. When I'm spending close to 2 hours a day in my car, I want the experience to be as enjoyable as possible, and the G definitely lives up to that expectation.

i drive an 07 g35s, and drive 70 miles each way. I bought the car new, and now have 44k, and i just replaced the tires ( i had the potenzas, and switched to HTRZIII), I could have gone at least 48k. I dont get much traffic, so I average about 75 mph, and am getting about 24mpg. While sometimes i hate putting so many miles on my car, I love driving the car, and would easily pick it over the ones you are considering (have driven all of them). Good luck.
