rim problem

rim problem

not really sure how it happened but my rims have some nasty water spots on them. i tried everything to fix it but nothing is working. has this happened to anyone else? anyone know how to fix it?

What type of rim do you have.. OEM, aftermarket, is it painted/powder coated.

have you tried to clay bar it? try asking your Question in the detailing sub forum.. those guys are experts on it. i have limited knowldge on this stuff.

not yet, im thinking about picking up mothers metal polish and clay bar and see what happens...good idea? lol before i waste like $20-$30

try polish, that should get rid of the water spots. a small can of mothers polish is like 5 bux.

The wheels normally do not water spot very easily with the factory clear coat. Did you wash the car/wheels yourself or did someone else do it? What was used to wash them?

first dont use metal polish on a finish that is not even metal .. your wheels are made out of metal, but they have a paint and clear coat on them

second try distilled white vinegar diluted with a 50/50 mix of distilled water (grocery store will have them both), if it doest work, up the mix with a stronger solution of distilled white vinegar

if that does not work, try a medium grade clay bar

if that does not work try a abbrassive compound

if that does not work, get them refinished, you let the spots sit on there for too long and it etched into the clear of the wheels
