Anybody heard of this yet?

Was at my local Inifiniti dealership ordering some parts, and was talking to a random salesman, I usually don't talk to them, but he drives a rhd S14 Silvia...so I had too.

Anyhoo, he brought up something I just can't beleive and if so, I am in love and can't wait.

He said that Inifiniti is working on a new G series vehicle, a G45...V36 platform with the M45 motor mated to the new AT trans. I cannot beleive it simply becuase why would Inifiniti make a M45, smaller and faster...Would almost delete the M45. But then I got to thinking, the only way they would do that is if they are planning on a different motor option inside the M45 or whatever it will be.

I know it sounds extremely out there, and hard to beleive and that is probably why I don't, but figured I would share it with my fellow G drivers.

P.S. Think about it, 3400lbs 330hp 330tq...Intake, Chip/reflash, full exhaust...can you say 400hp/tq NA?

You know salesman talk out of their *** non stop. They absolutely have less of a clue than we do about future infiniti vehicles.

There are some rumors about an M50 so just maybe a G45 is not out of the question.

I agree about salesman, tis why I don't ever talk to them. I bought my G without ever talking to a single one.

But, with news of M50 maybe with a 5.0 V8, the use of a 4.5 v8 in the G would be quite interesting. Would make it a bit worse unless they reworked the entire car since the v8 would weigh at least 100-200lbs more then the v6, then the whole new suspension, brakes, trans, etc etc..would throw weight distribution and MPG off highly...

Buuut, the performance would be amazing if done right and kept the same sort of weight and body look.

Yeap M56 will take over from the 45. So there is possibiliies to get the 45 engine in the G. Not sure how much heavier the 45 than the current 35/37. That could be an issue. Only way to address is to loose some weight from the body/suspention,etc. I guess we'll see.

The G only has the 35(37) option but the M has the 35 and 45.
The M is a little bigger and a little plusher, where the G is smaller and a little more sport oriented.
I don't think it's far fetched at all for this to be in the works.

Maybe a G37 with it's regular motor and the G47 with the bump up in power?
Sounds good to me. Dont know how I'm paying for it yet, but it sounds good to me.

Well this has kind of been in the rumor mill for a while now. I have to say I would like to believe it as I think a v8 G would be awesome but I don't see it happening for some reason. I would love to be proven wrong on the subject for that matter. Imagine just pushing the throttle open on a G47!

I believe there is a little issue with different tunes as well. I driven both and found a lot of performance differences even with the same or greater weight via a passenger in the 'G'. Mine is an X, the 'M' was not awd.

What about a stretched 'G', a modern version of a Cheetah.

I think it could happen next yr. If they want to go against Lexus ISF, M, RS4 and AMG....infiniti needs to step up! I would be all over an 8cyl G! Scott hit the nail on the head.....how i pay for it is a different story. My wife just might kick me out of the house at that point!

Meh... i'd be more interested in a TT G37 sedan with a DCT tranny. Our slushboxes suck lol. BMW is going all out with the turbo models (the entire 7 series lineup!!).

^^^ what he said, except I dont see them going down that route as it will hurt gt-r sales. Although that would be much better lighter, more handling capability and faster. Infiniti's v8 arent actually that good. There v6's are renown for there performance and it would be a far better choice. It would smoke the competition and also! easy to mod! all you would need to do is up the boost! lol

Make the engine bay a little longer like the Cheetah, add two more holes to the 37 and you have 440 hp using interchangeable parts on your new G49.3 .

there are no rumors of an m56 now. it's been verified...even before this post was conceived.

a v8 G is in the works and there's a fairly decent chance of it hitting the streets as the economy swings back up in the next few years.
