There are two tiny lights on each side of the sunroof switch. I think they only light when the outside lights are on, They're shown in several pictures in the owners manual but are never indentified. What are they, please?

Yeap he talks about them. But only the 07 has 2. The 08 got only one.

 

Yes, they could very well be just ambient lights, since they aren't bright enough to really illuminate anything. Although they do light up my fingertip when I hold it >< this far away from it.

I probably should have mentioned '07 G35x.....sorry 'bout that.

They're basically just to provide some interior light at night when the lights are on.

 

I think they make the interior look awesome at night, enough to give the dash and especially the brushed alum. trim a bit of glow.

 

Yea, i love em! totally didn`t know about those before i bought the car, the white light is classy

mine`s an 09, are the 08 and 07`s white too? actually are the dash buttons for you 08-07èrs backlit white for that matter? or blue?

 

That sounds rather dim. If you adjust the brightness of the illumination of your dash, that will adjust with it. IIRC you can adjust the gauges independently of the rest of the dash/ambient lighting.

 

ya.. I m thinking to replace them with blue LED bulb

 

Also known as "map lights" cuz they are just bright enough to make out what's on a map during nighttime without having to turn on all the interior lights.
