Faulty Bearing?

I just got a call from my sister who's watching my car for me that my 2007 sedan stalled on the side of the road. They called a mechanic to check out the problem and the drive belt tore, but whats interesting is that the mechanic said the "bearing" is of really crappy quality, wobbly, and probably needs to be replaced otherwise a new belt will tear up too. This part is somehow related to power steering and the alternator.

I'm in WA right now and am pretty upset I can't deal with this issue directly. The car is only at 26k miles, everything should be covered under warranty right?

Infiniti told my sister that driving belts are not covered but if this is a deeper issue the warranty should take hold?

Anyone got thoughts on it?

Infiniti mechanic told her this? Or did she make a separate call to infiniti asking about belt warranty?

Sounds like a shady mechanic, cuz if it is a bearing problem, it should be repaired under warranty.

It was my sisters Benz mechanic who came out to the site, this was before my sister knew there was Infiniti roadside which I still have active for another year or so.

At first the mech was just going to replace the belt but after he inspected it, he advised us to to call Infiniti and have their warranty fix it. My sister called Infiniti and was told belts dont count as warranty items.

The mech said he'd never seen a bearing so flimsy before and it might be a production issue with a specific batch of '07 cars and therefore definitely something the warranty should cover...

In any case, if a bad part caused the belt to break, the belt is covered as well. Let Infiniti fix it.

Had my drive belt changed under warranty at 12K. It started to fray and this caused a terrible squeaking sound.
