Lock your keys in trunk - easier than the interior
#31
One thing I have been reading which the manual isn't very clear on is that there appears to be differences on how you lock and unlock the car and how it affects this. For example manually unlocking/locking the door with the the lever, using the unlock/lock button inside, and using the button on the outside of the door. One example I came upon was how the fuel door works. On my 08 if you unlock using the inside electric button the fuel door unlocks. It doesn't unlock if you simply unlock the door using the lever. I ran into this when I only wanted to leave the drivers door unlocked in this neighborhood and unlocked using the lever but could not open the fuel door.
Interesting info about the fuel door. Also not sure if you knew but you can screw up the sequences with it. I think Jeff did it on the other forum. He left his fuel door open and locked the door. Than he pushed the fuel door in and when he opened the doors the fuel door stayed locked. He had to reverse the locking process and worked again.

I can also lock my FOB in the trunk. Sometimes the car beeps and the trunk opens...sometimes it doesn't. I haven't been able to determine exactly which circumstances will render it to open or stay locked. Maybe I'll try and figure it out this weekend.
I took it to the dealer and they gave me some stupid remark about using the key vs. using the door switch. But of course I tried both and got the same results.
I remember one time when I experimenting with this whole truck problem. I locked the FOB in the trunk 100 different ways without the trunk ever opening. 10 minutes later I started the car and immediately shut it off...tried to lock the FOB in the trunk and it popped open every single time. The whole process just seems very inconsistant.

****Update****
Came back from service. Apperently you can lock your key in the trunk only in the sedan but not in the coupe. I was told at the dealership. They showed me pictures with diagram of the range for the sensors and the sensor works only outside of the trunk. Which somewhat makes more sense if you would take your fob to a beach and lock it in take only the actual key with you and not to worry about geting it wet.
So to us sedan people we can lock our key in the trunk and the coupe guys can't.

I think the dealer is mistaken

Wouldn't be the first time from a stealer. Sometimes they just don't know any better, sometimes they're told wrong, sometimes they just lie to get you to leave when they can't/don't want to research and fix an issue they view as minor.

yea i actually had my key in the trunk a couple of times (because im clumsy) it always popped back open.
BUT!! BUT BUT!!!! just last week, i did it again.. guess what. the trunk didn't pop back up... i ended up calling AAA, waited for 45 mins in the rain to get my key back.... one thing i noticed thou, my key battery was only 3/4 full, not 100% full, i wonder if that has anything to do with it? anyone know?
