Dealer Issues with Nav Update
So, two weeks ago, I went to get the 09-10 nav update done on my 07 G35S.
Three hours of waiting later, I get in my car and notice that it says I now have 08-09 version. I bring this up to the service guy and he says that's what the code put on the car. Two days later of course, I get a call saying it was their mistake and they never loaded the 09-10 version onto their system.
So, I went back this weekend to get it redone. They gave me a loaner this time. So....five and a half hours later, they're done. It now successfully says the 09-10 version. Of course, some points of interest are missing now. Strange. They were on the 08-09 version I had temporarily.
So, two questions:
1) 3-5.5 hours to install a nav update??? really???
2) Why did I gain points of interest and then lose them?? slightly aggravating, but considering the hassle of getting it done, I doubt I'll be bringing it up anytime soon.

"Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine?"
No...of course it's not necessary. It's up to you. For me, I use my navigation all the time and especially use the points of interest (why I'm perturbed I seem to have lost some spots).

Umm, drinking your own urine sounds like a personal issue. In any event, I use my gps almost everyday and it has never got me lost. I suppose an update should be the least of my concerns then.

I'm in the process of getting mine updated. Aparently, the dealership loads the update through the compact flash card slot. There isn't any real labor involved. They just hook up to the slot and upload some data. I'm not sure how long that takes but I can't imagine it takes very long.
On a side note, I learned of all of this because when I took my car in to get the update last week my flash card slot wasn't working. About a year ago I upgraded my stereo and a minor tweak not to be mentioned on this forum. In the process I disconnected the flash card slot. I never used it so I didn't think it was a big deal. Anyway, I fixed it and now I'm going back for the update on Thursday. I hope it works this time...
