Question How to remove headlight housing

Hi guys, I'm wondering how do I go about removing the headlight housing unit from the car?

Do I have to remove the front bumper? If so does anyone have steps on removing the front bumper? or headlight housing?

^ umm yes I can I never said I can't

I've just never done it before, never had to take off the front bumper to install anything yet, all my mods have been either from underneath the car or the engine bay.

I just want to know where all the screws are, I used to take off my front bumper on my Audi in like 5 min flat and probably like 4 times a week too, but this is my first *** car and they're not as straight forward as Ze German

Oh and thanks for the feedback guys, someone should post one of these in the DIY section because there are none.

The G is pretty straight forward. I've covered all the bolts in my post, so you shouldn't have any issues if you follow it. As far as taking off the lights, I don't know the exact bolts but once the bumper is off, you can see all the bolts that attach the headlight to the fender.

You'll see all the bolts that hold the headlights on once your bumper is off. Just be sure to look.

Hey guys another question.

Once I've baked my light and removed the old shroud, can I re-use the existing sealant to cover it back up again? by that I mean keeping the original sealant and just re-heating it and placing it back on the car?

I've heard of people reusing the old stuff but I'd rather clean off the old stuff and use new sealant but that's just me.

It's really hard to get the old sealant out. In the past, I've simply reused the old sealant material and made sure to firmly press all the way around. With the G35, removing the headlights was such a pain, I didn't want to chance a leak and have to re-do things. Picked up some butyl rubber sealant (like the OE sealant) at Sears--home depot, lowes, etc. didn't have it. You only need to add a very, very small bead all the way around to replace any original sealant that was displaced. I also waited 24hr before finishing up the headlights (ie. placing bulbs, covers, etc) to let the adhesive cure.

so can I just get any rubber sealant from my local DIY store and use it? or does it have to be "Butyl"?

I would not use any sealant but butyl rubber sealant.

Edit: if you have a Nissan dealer near you, they sell butyl rubber sealant in tape form factor. Who knows... maybe Infiniti has this also?
