Ended up tearing mines apart with a set of pilars, guess I wasn't one of the lucky ones to have it twisted off by hand. Although I love how my MOMO looks!

mine was very hard to remove and I did not destroy it. all you need is a cloth, vice grip pliers and strap wrench (for shift ****)

the shaft of the shifter has to be stabilized when twisting the **** off. You can damage the shifter and linkage by putting too much torque on it. Best method is to use a strap wrench or better yet a plumbers wrench for the shift ****, and use vise grips to keep the shaft from twisting. Put rags between the vise grip and the plumbers wrench. Lock the vise grip around the shaft and hold it with one hand. Wrap the plumbers wrench around the shift **** and apply torque. It took me a few tries, but it eventually broke free.
